Alexander McQueen; a creative guru, a fashion genius and stylist to the stars has tragically passed away in a sudden death. Alexander whom had created outstanding clothes filled with emotion was found hanging in his home in London; only a week after the death of his mother.

With supermodels and celebrities such as Kate Moss and Lady Gaga intently mourning his death; tributes to the star of the fashion world are held all over.

Naomi Campbell paid her tributes at New York’s Fashion Week as supermodels huddled together wearing S/S 2010 Alexander McQueen. The signature skull and lips scarves have been worn in memory by hundreds.

Gaga a regular supporter of McQueen’s outrageous designs admits that she is still in shock; the singer had posted a picture of her and him on her twitter page and is said to be performing a special tribute at the BRITS.

Betsey Johnson; held a long live McQueen sign at the end of the viewing of her Fall Collection 2010.

McQueen had based his collections on Hitchcock, Marie Antoinette and Lord of the Flies; his shows will remain in fashion history as Alexander has never failed to fill us with emotion.

Outfits were always beautifully tailored; that have thrilled and shocked us among the years. McQueen was always one to stand out; supporting Kate Moss after Scandals by wearing a T-shirt saying “We Love you Kate” as he bowed to end one of his shows.

Alexander has kept us on the edge of our seats, wondering what will come next; we’ve heard the click-clack of heals; seen the model surrounded by wolves and provided us with an intimate look at vanity.

“My friends are always really surprised when they see me strutting around in high heels, because normally I’ll be riding horses or mucking out the stables and look as if I’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards.”

25 year old, Janine Allen Robertson successfully won her place in Miss Universe 2010; the pageant will be taking place on May 2nd at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham.

“I’m really happy to have made it through to the final, because Miss Universe is one of the grand slam events in beauty pageants.” Robertson is a horse riding instructor whom is also studying accountancy in the hope to own her own business.

“I study accounting, because it will be really helpful with starting a business.” Janine hopes to own a beauty pageant company. “I think it’s very easy to look at pageants from the outside and be critical…I don’t agree with the ones with little kids wearing make-up to the eyeballs. But for older people it’s good, because you get experiences you wouldn’t have otherwise.”

The model who was once to shy to speak in front of a school class, is now hoping to raise funding the Joshua Foundation; the charity helps children with terminal cancer and gives them wonderful life experiences.

“I was quite shy growing up but competing around the world in pageants has given me a lot of confidence…At school, I wouldn’t even read aloud in front of the class but now I’ve addressed rooms full of hundreds of people.”

The 5”8 aspirer will be representing Great Britain in the Pageant; we wish her all the luck.

The end of last year saw us the signing of 18 year old hopeful singer, Lucie Jones whom appeared in reality show; X-Factor.

The welsh beauty was signed to Select Model Management after the public voted for Jedward over the gorgeous girl next door. However Jones has clearly left that image behind with new seductive poses.

Supporting the wet look and a black halter neck dress; it appears as though the star has certainly found a new talent for 2010. Lucie has produced stunning images and most defiantly has an underlying talent for the camera.

First posing for university students eight years ago, Marley Rae Mcduff founded the reDEFINEartsconnective now having 286 members fighting against the stigma that follows Nude art models.

Nude Art has been tarnished with the words ‘No Better than Pornography’, the models have been told that what they do is, ‘not real work’ and been asked for ‘extras’. They have now joined together and formed a union to better the industry and prove people wrong.

“I want people to have a better understanding about what it is that a fine art model does,” Marley Rae said. “It's serious. It's work. It's hard work for many people. And it's not something to be ashamed of.”

The group was first extremely slow, but now many people are getting membership and supporting the models; Models claim that artistic modeling has been extremely rewarding and helped them gain confidence.

“Artistic modeling is not sexual in nature,” said Muriel Torchia; whom entered nude modeling after finding reDEFINE listed under job opportunities.  “There is a difference between nudity and sexuality. If this was Europe, or South America, I don't think there'd be the same derogatory idea that comes with it. Here, people are like 'Oh my goodness, you pose nude? What do people think of this?'”

“I would like to see someone else actively stand or lie in the same position for even 15 minutes without moving or appearing different,” Muriel joked. “It's not always an easy job to do.”

The models can earn between £20 and £60 an hour; their nude posing can lead to shockingly amazing art pieces and help them gain independent attributes.

The sixteen year old elegant brunette is ready for the catwalk; but only a few years earlier Rosie Gilmour was frightened to walk alone up the stairs due to her epilepsy. Battling with the frightful condition since she was nine years old; the schoolgirl has suffered up to thirty seizures a day.

“When I was about 14 I feared going anywhere without a friend or my family because the seizures were so frequent.” Said the model from Perthshire. “I wouldn't walk a flight of steps at home without my brother or sister behind me because I've had seizures and have fallen down the stairs.”

“I was having around 30 a day. It totally took over my life and I had to rely on people so much just to get about … At that point I'd never have thought I'd now be doing modelling by myself…It has made me feel more independent - even though my seizures haven't stopped.”

Epilepsy affects one in every 131 people in the UK directly; this means that there are 456,000 at least with Epilepsy in Britain.

“I've even had them on photoshoots… The first time I had two, but the next was much worse and I had about ten over a three-hour session… I still managed to complete the pictures though.”

Rosie has produced stunning shots and certainly looks the part of the next supermodel.

“The last bad cluster of seizures I had was on Bonfire Night last year. I had four back to back and ended up in hospital overnight…My first one was in Primary Five. I've had ECG brain scans but they have never really found a reason or what triggers them off…They said it could be set off by stress. But then I can have them when I'm totally calm too….Most are very short - around 10 seconds long. But as I've got older they've got longer - around three to five minutes.”

Many people will suffer from a seizure at one point in there life; it is a sudden change in a persons awareness, behavior or what they are doing. Not all seizures are epileptic.

“One time I had a really bad seizure and a nurse told my friends to leave me alone. They insisted on putting me into the recovery position…It was just as well they did because I was sick, so I'd have choked. That's the problem with epilepsy - not a lot of people know what to do when they see someone have a seizure.”

Rosie has been hospitalized because of fits of seizures.

Rosie was spotted by current Miss Scotland; Katharine Brown. The young model is said to have gorgeous skin, that high fashion look and a beauty face. It is supported that the model will go far.

The sixteen year old is determined to continue into her career, despite her epilepsy.

Nick-named, ‘The Body’; 45 year old supermodel Elle Macpherson is set to replace Lisa Snowdon in Britain’s Next Top Model. Elle has previously had her lingerie line featured in the show but is now excited to work as a judge for the 25 models battling it out for a modelling contract.

“I am really enthusiastic and motivated to work with the team of Britain's Next Top Model…We are looking forward to finding the face that can represent the next generation.”

They used to be the area that the industry missed; too large for the catwalk, yet to skinny for a catalogue. A sudden surge of want for ‘normal sized’ models; designers, editors and retailers scream out for more curve and less bones.

12+UK Model Agency must be seeing a huge increase on booking of their models; it appears that more size 12 models are appearing in campaigns and on magazine covers. The industry famous for tiny figures has seen Vogue Paris dedicate the February issue to Lara Stone who claims she has “tits and an arse.”

Canadian fashion designer Mark Fast sent three sizes twelve and fourteen models down the runway last September; he is also set to be using more plus size models at his show at London Fashion Week next month. Marks & Spencer’s is also allegedly preparing for a new lingerie collection, with a curvier model.  Retailer Asos is another to use a size 14/16 model for advertising.

“There is now a real ripple of interest around models that are different from the standard catwalk model, who is too thin.” Caryn Franklin, a fashion commentator had said. "We want fashion to enhance women's self-esteem. I'm delighted that Mark is using larger girls because it means his last show wasn't a novelty to get everyone talking but a real commitment," she finished.

A debate to be held in Downing Street hosted by Sarah Brown will also be highlighting the change of opinion; this will correspond with London’s Fashion Week. The aim is to continue encouragement of designers to use larger models.

Morley, a twenty one year old model who has a 34-inch bust, 29-inch waist and 41-inch hips  and is signed to 12+UK Model Agency said; “I think it showed how amazing curvy figures can look in high-end fashion …I am very happy with my body, and I think that is portrayed in my pictures.”

 “Larger girls aren't a gimmick any more. We've seen a genuine, if subtle, change.” Said Sarah Watkinson, who runs 12+ UK.
Head booker at Hughes Models (the UK's first plus-size agency), Sarah Travers said: "The plus-size market used to begin at size 14, while the standard finished at 10. But there is now a lot more work for size 12 and up. We took on 20 more girls last year, which is a lot."

However, only last week at Sao Paulo Fashion Week; an alarm was raised over thin models. The event director, Paulo Borges warned that the thin models are still the most booked in the US and Europe.

Most remain positive in the hope that it’s not just another trend.

Thirty one year old Katie Price, also known as model Jordan lightens her feud with Chelsea White once again; after belief that Chelsea leaked footage of a New Year’s Eve Party.

“Does anyone have Chelsea White's address, so I can send legal letter, so she can't stitch any more people up? Please – she is scum,” Price had been quoted writing on social networking site, Twitter.

Thousands of Twitter followers have questioned the model about the feud between the two; later resulting in a post saying, “Thank you” to one who gave the London Studio address of Whites.

The four minute video consisted of Katie saying about how bad 2009 was. It is reported that a child; assumed to be her son Junior, had said “Don't say it Mummy.” The video was posted on to Youtube. Chelsea has denied it.

“No video was ever sold on my behalf to any newspapers,” Chelsea commented. Spokesperson for Katie Price has refused to comment.

Minougue who has recently came out about her pregnancy; is allegedly taking over Myleen Klass’ place in the M&S Campaign. They are reportedly in the process of putting together a deal; however the spokesperson for the brand has not confirmed any detail.

Dannii believes that her life is hectic at the moment with the outbreak of pregnancy and rumours of modeling contract. “A while ago I went to my doctor for a check-up and he told me I'd got to the stage in my life where I'd have to make decisions about having children,” the judge is much focused on pregnancy than reported M&S campaign.

“I remember thinking, 'Oh God. I'm now that person who is getting too old to have kids'. I told him it wasn't an issue for me because I didn't have a man, there was no one on the horizon, and there probably never would be. "My life has been turned upside down, inside out and everything. I mean everything is fresh and new and exciting,” Dannii added before gushing about her boyfriend, rugby league star Kris Smith. "This guy has changed everything. He's changed me and I just feel like the sun is shining every day. It's amazing. I found The One and I am exploding with happiness.”

It seems as though the former ‘Spice Girl’ is now to take to the modelling industry; Victoria Beckham also known as ‘Posh Spice’ has tackled Britain, America, her own fashion label and is now teaming up with Simon Fuller; whom has a controlling stake in London’s Storm Models.

The pair are embarking on a new business venture in New York city and are looking to set up something similar to Storm in the US. Fuller was also Victoria’s manager in the early Spice Girl days.

A un – named source had said, “Simon knows that Victoria is very savvy when it comes to fashion. His first foray into fashion was to team up designer Roland Mouret and Victoria, which was a huge success. Victoria is a key asset to Simon and he wants her to take on a major role.”

Perhaps, ‘Spice Models’ or ‘Posh Agency’ are names to look for in the US?

“There is no market for plus-size models in Australia.... it would be tokenism to put a plus-size girl through just for the sake of it,” Charlotte; a judge of Australia’s Next Top Model had said. “I would like someone to name a plus-size model in Australia because I can't,” she stated.

Dawson spoke about her opinion of plus – size modeling at the auditions for the sixth series of Australia’s Next Top Model. Hundreds of teens crammed together at Chadstone shopping centre in Melbourne.

Although it seems the media and most of the industry has got onto the plus size models scheme; Australia has not yet caught up.
“We could have a plus-size model win the competition and she would end up doing catalogues for Target.”

With last years winner; Tahnee Atkinson was a lovely size ten, yet she was still described as ‘full – figured’ and ‘curvaceous’.

“I think the industry internationally has had enough of the really skinny, scrawny models... you couldn't call Tahnee curvy, she's just a normal, healthy girl,” Dawson had said regarding Tahnee’s figure.

Although the judge has clearly stated her disapproval of plus size models (Which she classes as 14 plus) she allowed a size 14 through to the second stage of the auditions. “She would have been a size 14 top and 16 bottom ... she was one of those beautiful girls who light up the room,” Charlotte had understood.

However she still refuses that a plus size model will win the competition; she believes that it is unfair to the model as she won’t receive much work. “You can't change the industry overnight, there is just not enough work for them in Australia,” Dawson commented.  

The director of plus size modeling agency; BGM Models, Darrianne Donnelly was not pleased with Charlotte Dawson’s comment on the plus size modeling front; Donnelly claims she was severely disappointed with Dawson’s statement.

“For Charlotte Dawson to say there is no plus-size modeling industry in Australia is untrue....I have models out there proving it every day,” Darrianne said. “I have one model who has just landed a contract with Avon in the Philippines and another who is flying down for a shoot with Myer in Melbourne today.”

Chelsea Votano a plus size model had attended the second installment of auditions in Sydney; she believes that despite being rejected she has left with a positive experience.

“At first I was really nervous standing there amongst all those skinny girls but then it became quite empowering, I was there for myself,”

Votano, the 14-16 aspirer said. “I walked in front of the judges and they were really nice and just said I was not what they were looking for.”

It will be interesting to see Australia’s opinion of plus size modeling develop in the near future; with hope that larger models will be treated fairly in a well mixed industry…

The current financial state has really hit hard and Model/Designer Caprice is feeling it.

“It's been a tough year for everyone and my business is no different…. I buy in dollars and sell in sterling so my losses were £1.5 million and that was just exchange rate. I was buying products in the millions, so the losses were obviously huge.”

The 38 year old has struggled with finance as the credit crunch has hit hard, Caprice’s lingerie range has suffered.

“But this year I'm being very conservative with my buys and keeping an eye on the rates… Being a businesswoman is definitely not as easy as modeling, but I am proud of myself for seeing it through.”

Starting her underwear firm in 2000; the collection has been sold at many boutiques, high street shops and online outlets. Caprice has remained in front of the camera for her own clothing range.

“I won't stop modelling as long as they are still re-touching…I re-touch the heck outta my pictures and I am happy to admit it! …Once we finish a shoot, the pictures are sent to Rachel here at the office who does all the retouching for me, so they are perfect. That will never change!”

Caprice certainly isn’t fussed about the public disagreement of airbrushing; she believes that if they were in her position they would too. “I would say to these people 'you would do the exact same thing!' Trust me, if they had the facilities, they would go for it.”

She certainly feels the pressure of running her own business; “I look back in retrospect and remember complaining about long hours, saying it was so difficult. Now I think, are you kidding? It was a walk in the park and I got paid a fortune primarily for doing nothing!”

Caprice has said about how she does miss the modelling days; “Now that I run a business, I appreciate the modelling days. But out of all my accolades this is still what I am most proud of … I worked my hardest and made it work, all of the other ranges out there are license deals - Kylie, Sean Coombes, Elle McPherson. This is all my work and my own money.”

The proud underwear model has successful stirred up a storm in the industry and survived the credit crunch; her next venture will be the stage…

“I think I want to dive back into the entertainment industry - hopefully the West End. I'd love to do a musical or a comedy play. I do probably need to settle down one day. I am 38 after all, but only God knows when that will happen!”

Stunning female model Bree Condon; suffered from a scam artist posing as her. The con man set up an online site; talking to her admirers and tricking them into sending him gifts and money, police had commented.

A private investigator had found the man who was held in Austin, Texas. The fraudster had been digitally placing the Bree’s face onto nude images. The Guess model was impersonated by Justin Brown; who also talked to his targets in a high pitched voice on the phone.

“Going to Paris, I had to walk a runway with all these tall skinny models and I almost puked I was so nervous.” The twenty eight year old had said.

“I mean, I can walk a red carpet but walking a runway, I will be the first to fall on my face. And thank god I didn't. But I was so nervous to walk out there and be judged. To just put myself out there like that. Especially next to people that eat just salad.”

Designer Michelle Mone who created the infamous Ultimo range of bras has shed six stone and now promises to model; the business women has gone from 17stone to a 11 and claims she’s sexier than ever.

"Get me a bra and a thong and I'll do it now. I'll just go and pick out my favourite set… There are literally thousands of people who have said I should do an Ultimo lingerie shoot so it wasn't my idea.”

Dropping from size 20 to a 10 – 12; Mel B, Sarah Harding, Peaches Geldolf and Elen Rives have modeled for her Ultimo range and now with the significant weight loss Michelle believes it is her turn.

“We own a brand called Adore Moi, which Jenni Falconer is the face of just now. It is a very sophisticated brand for women in their 30s and over…And I'm planning to do a shoot for that. I'm always telling women to feel confident in their underwear so why shouldn't I lead by example?”

"The time is right to practise what I preach so you can look out for pictures of me in my hold-ups and my skimpies…I'm going to give myself another couple of months in the gym and then go for it.”

“Last year, if someone had said I'd be up for doing a shoot in my own stuff I'd be like, 'You're having a laugh'…But now I'm like, 'Bring it on. Whatever'…And the money that I'd pay for a day to one of our celebs, I'll donate to a children's charity…It'll be a one-off.”
It seems as though family man Michael is not so keen on his wife striping to help promote her collection; “Michael is quite against me modelling …He doesn't think it's appropriate for a businesswoman to get her kit off…I think it's just a bit of fun and a bit of banter but I'm not getting much support in the Mone household.”

Sixteen year old Rebecca also doesn’t want her mother posing in skimpy lingerie; “Even my eldest daughter's against me. She's like, 'Mum, please don't be silly'…None of the family are supporting me at all but all my friends are saying that I should go for it…I'm determined to do it. I just hope people don't think that I'm far too old to do that.”

Husband Michael is also joining in on the weigh loss; "Michael's started to take TrimSecrets Double Strength as well now so maybe he's thinking he'd better watch himself. But Michael has nothing to worry about - I'm not going to be doing a Hannah Waterman.”

China and Gay rights have come along way over the years; with homosexuality once being classed as a disease and a mental disorder, homosexuals were also persecuted, the situation has now improved.

China’s first gay pageant was shut down just minutes before starting; men were dressed in drag and preparing themselves for a battle to the Mr. Gay title in a Beijing nightclub, police came and closed it down.

After a successful rehearsal on the prior Thursday night, the contestants were hoping that it would raise awareness of homosexuality and prevent discrimination. Eight men were competing for the chance to take part in a Worldwide gay pageant; being held in February, Oslo, Norway.

Pagent organiser, Ben Zhang was desperate to negotiate with the police; “They said the content, meaning homosexuality, there was nothing wrong with that, but you did not do things according to procedures.” Apparently, he needed approval to hold events.

Dressed in a white shirt and tight trousers; contestant Jay had extremely high hopes of winning: “I’m rather disappointed. I never expected they would cancel. It was going to start in a few minutes… I think my figure is my greatest asset,” the hopeful commented.

The competition was supposed to consist of three rounds: the fashion show, the underwear questions and answers segment and the freestyle section. These sections were set to encourage more closet gays to take part.

Several contestants changed there name to English ones to disclose there real identities; most afraid of there parents opinions. Jay is a prime example; “I know it’s possible that my parents could find out after all this publicity. But they want me to get married. Anyway I think they will finally understand because I am their son.”

Last June; a gay pride festival was held in Shanghai however, it was extremely discreet and again authorities had closed down some of the events. These events are seeming to continue until homosexuals are not discriminated against.

It is estimated that there are 30 million homosexuals in China; 300 homosexuals had disapproved the event and over 1000  was pleased to hear about it. We look forward to see the forth coming politics about China and homosexuality.

Billy Joe Saunders a Hatfield boxer was certainly not the only surprised face to see when hearing of a photo shoot Vogue Hommes magazine, a leading men’s style publication; this was following a previous shoot for Love magazine.

“It’s a laugh doing the modelling and I’m flattered that people think I’m good looking enough,” Billy Joe Saunders had commented. “If someone asks me to do a photo shoot then I’m not going to say no, but boxing will always come first - even if I do look like a knockout!”
The now model has been unbeaten in five professional fights; the next will be on February 13th, Wembley. Promoter Frank Warren, claims that that he is a fighter to watch not only this year, but for the rest of the decade.

 “To get comments like that from Frank is a real confidence boost,” Saunders said. “Now it’s up to me to prove him right. I’ve had a good first year as a professional, but I don’t think I’ve boxed to anywhere near my potential yet…Hopefully I will stay busy this year and by the end of it I want to be fighting for titles.”

The 21 year old women had claimed that she was in the audience of a Kennewick, Washington performance when Copperfield spotted her. She was allegedly invited back to his private island in attempt to establish her modeling career. This was where the model was reportedly attacked.

David Copperfield whom has dated supermodel Claudia Schiffer for six years; had the case dropped, no charges were filed.

Its been just over a year since the GaGa fever struck globally; with her first single ‘Just Dance’ rocking to success and still being played as an anthem, Lady Gaga is certainly an icon to the women of today.

Named the face of 2009; Joanne Stefani Germanotta famously known as Lady Gaga has had the world running around with cute little bows in there hair and edgy 80’s styled clothes in the past year.

Already adored by thousands; it is reported that Gaga is planning on releasing her own clothing line. “I can’t wait to do my own line. It’s definitely something I want to do in the next year as I do have my own style. I’m already talking to my boy Akon about it.”

Gaga is certainly like Marmite; you either love her or hate her but regardless on your feelings about the electro – pop diva, you can’t help but admire the ridiculously unique outfits and style.  Akon, the hip hop artist and founder of GaGa certainly agrees that Gaga is a style icon; “She’ll walk around in London in her underwear and you watch, everyone will catch on.”

Gaga goes on to say she had inspiration from the likes of Madonna, who also made fantastic music; but then her clothing line for H&M plummeted.  However, given the impact that Gaga has already had socially, the likeliness of teenagers in super hot pants and punk jackets is extremely likely.

It seems as though the world and its neighbour is getting on the Gaga bandwagon; the world and its neighbour except designer Antonio Berardi that is. Antonio has refused to work with Gaga because of his choice in music.
“I was approached to design a clothing range with Lady GaGa but I knocked it back because I wasn't interested in someone whose music is meaningless…Her music is meaningless now so what impact will it have in 20 years?”

The designer has undoubtbly not being watching the charts; or looking at teenage girls with there funky style. It will be interested see Gaga’s range…if her range is as unique as her music, we can't wait.

Its seems as though Jessica Elsegood is achieving over seas after signing up with Next Model Management and Click Model Management; the start of her career was in 2001 with Dolly Magazine.

Backpacking with fiancée Duncan Ward lead to the pair being founded by Next Model Management; there trip around Mexico and South America was cut short, but an opportunity of a lifetime was amongst them.

Jessica was quickly a favourite among Canada; she opened a show for winner of Project Runway; Toronto’s Fashion week is another under her belt. With many fans; fiancée Ward claims that he is her number one.

“I was in the Click New York office myself when the director starting screaming that she would be the next Elle” Duncan said.

Jessica made headlines in early noughties and has faded out in the last few years, but is certainly one to look out for in the next for years; she is currently waiting for her US Visa to be approved.

Beginning modelling at the age of twelve; Nicole Clulee thought she had heard it all when Aliana McDaniel claimed to help her with establishment in the modeling industry.

Clulee was quickly signed up to Ali McD Modelling Agency, Trump Model Management and many others in Europe. Now described as “Grown Up” McDaniel believes that 2010 is a year for Nicole to travel.

In 2009; Nicole spent months in London, weeks in Paris and Milan and little time at home in New Zealand. Nicole was constantly busy with meeting significant characters in the fashion industry.

When back in New Zealand, Nicole had little time for family and more time with Cleo magazine, Air New Zealand Fashion Week and designer Lonely Hearts Club. Clulees says she’s used to all the traveling.

“From the outside looking in, modelling "seems amazing" but was "just like any other job”, the young model had commented.

Clulee is looking forward to Singapore, London, New York and the beginning of her life at University of Otago in the near future.

Twenty six year old, Paula Sladewski had been holidaying in the city of New York with partner; Kevin Klym. Paula was a LA based model and had taken part in 'Playboy: The ultimate Playmate search' and was on the rise to success.

The pair had attended a Lady Gaga concert on New Years and spent the weekend in bars and nightclubs welcoming the New Year. The model and boyfriend were seen arguing in Space in the early hours of Sunday morning; this resulted in Kylm being thrown out, Paula was able to stay even though it was claimed she was “too drunk”.

The 34 year old returned to the hotel they were staying in, later that day he filed a missing persons report; it was reported that Kevin had created flyers in a cause to find her. His Lawyer commented “He's devastated and traumatised,” he added that Kevin had “no involvement whatsoever”.

Despite the lawyers best efforts; Detectives have confirmed that Klym is ‘a person of interest’ within the investigation. A member of public had reported a public bin on fire at a back street. The models remains were found, Lt. Neal Cuevas, a North Miami police spokesman, believed that the body was 'burned beyond recognition'. Dental records were needed for identification.

Police have concluded that the model had died before being set a light; the cause of death has not yet been established.

Domestic violence charges had been filed against Paula last June; the couple had been together for two years. The missing persons report said that his occupation was a laborer and the model worked as a private dancer.

Paula’s family were informed of the tragedy on Monday; stepfather Richard Watkins had described there relationship as ‘volatile’. “We were praying it wasn't her. It's been real hard. I didn't know this many tears could fall.”

It seems like China is having westerns take over the modelling industry extremely quickly; it seems as though Beijing department stores are covered with Blue – eyed western models taking over the bill-boards, commercials and runways.

For a country that has roughly 1.3 million people, finding a beautiful model should not be difficult; “ It’s all relatively new,” said the editor of Vogue China. The current phrase to describe China’s fashion industry is, “yangqi” meaning quite literally, “foreign style.”

 “It just reflects the growth of the fashion industry. It needs a variety of girls now. If it's a local Chinese brand, they want to show their clothes look good on Westerners, especially brands that want to sell overseas.” Angelica Cheung, editor of Vogue continued.

Many people from within the industry claim that western models look better in photographs; they also believe that it makes their companies look more international. Allegedly, they believe that if the products are modeled by western models it will encourage sales over seas.

Many European people believe that going to China is now an easy way to make money; as their fashion industry is screaming out for western models. Nicole Vos, a 19 year old Canadian model was walking runways in Toronto; when his agency told him he was going to China.

So next time your visiting China; take a peak at the billboards and campaigns. How many western faces will you recognize?

Models and the modeling industry have been known for their extravagant lifestyles and wild parties; but it seems as though the high lifestyle is taking its turn for charity work. Who knows, perhaps models are sick of having an image of being rude and arrogant? – But for the beginning of 2010, the latest craze is helping those in need.

Tasha de Vasconcelos, began 2009 by setting up a maternity ward in Kasese, Malawi. With support and funding from Louis Vutton; the face of Nivea has done her share with helping the needy.

The fever for helping charities passed quickly on to Gisele Bundchen; whom now helps to protect rainforests in Brazil and is currently the goodwill ambassador for the UN Environment Programme.

Supermodel Natalie Vodianova, helped to raise a disabled sister. As she has made an impact on the fashion industry and stamped into the lives of many; she has set up her own organisation. The Naked Heart Foundation, building playgrounds for Russian children.

Alex Wek, yet another supermodel has helped to improve conditions in Sudan.

These beautiful women have appeared on hundreds of magazines and campaigned for some of the most established designers in the world; thankfully they are now giving a bit back. 2010, perhaps a year for caring that little bit more?

Surprisingly, Joe McEldery the expected Christmas number one was taken out by Rage Against the Machine. It seems like not only half the nation had a keen eye on this years X-Factor, but some of the leading characters at Select Model Management were too.

It seems like the talented singer; Lucie Jones who lost out to Jedward is going to be taking her career in a different light next year. Select Model Management, launched the careers for the likes of Stella Tennant and Agyness Deyn.

“When we first saw Lucie we recognised that she had a great look …As her confidence grew week after week, and her personality came through, we knew that we wanted to work with her.” Said Select Co-Founder, Chrissie Castagnetti.

The Welsh contestant who was advised by Dannii Minogue; appears to have a professional photo shoot lined up for early 2010 and a possibility of modeling work.

Lucie commented, “I love fashion, I love beauty and I love singing, so to be able to model alongside my music is the best Christmas present ever. I can’t wait to get going next year”.

An 18 year old aspiring model thought that her prayers had been answered when she received an email over social networking site, Myspace. Anand Jon appeared on America’s Next Top Model and was said to be one of the most exquisite designers to watch in 2007.

After seeing that Jon had worked with the likes of Paris Hilton and Janet Jackson; Jessie an aspirer decided that given his reputation, Jon would be an excellent break into the industry; she happily went along to meet him.

Anands latest range of jeans set ready to be pulled of the shelves; he asked Jessie to fly over to his apartment all expenses covered. "As soon as I walked in the door, I realized this is not where I'm supposed to be. There was stuff all over the floor. It smelled bad," Jessie Said.

Jon Allegedly started to kiss her, removing her garments; Jessie refused. She reported the designer had raped her and then continued as if nothing had happened afterward. She confided in Jon’s assistants who supposedly said, “Wow, that's not the first time I've heard of that happening.”

Leaving the building, Jessie made an extremely difficult phone call to her father, explaining what had happened. Her father persuaded her to go to the police immediately, after tests Anand Jon was arrested and charged with sexual assault.

Jessie’s story persuaded another victim of Jon’s, Autumn to also come forward. Calling Autumn a future ‘It Girl’, her and her family were persuaded that Jon would do well for her career. Autumns parents agreed that the fifthteen year old daughter could go along with Jon to a celebrity gathering.

“The first thing he tried doing was making me a drink. and I was just like, 'I'm too young for that,' like I'm not stupid … He was like, 'Come on, we'll record you. I want to see what you look like on camera.’” Autumn had said.

Jon had told Autumn that to be an ‘It Girl’ she had to make sacrifices, that she needed to lie about her ages, as ‘everybody does it in Hollywood.’ Luckily, Autumn found strength to push Jon away from her and ran away.

Anand’s assistant contacted Autumn and told her about Jessie and how she gone to the police about the attack, this brought Autumn confidence and she followed. Many more models came forward with similar stories as the other two.

The designer had a two month trial in which began in September, 2008. Numerous models came forward and told their stories of the alleged attacks by Jon.

His defense was that the girls were jealous, that they had made up the stories. Jon and his sister, Sanjana claimed that the girls were escorts and addicted to drugs.

Doctors had testified, “Many of them probably felt embarrassed, ashamed, how could this have happened, it's my fault.” Dr. Ann Burgess a professor of psychiatric nursing. Ann also believed that if Jessie hadn’t come forward, the other models wouldn’t have either.

Judge David S Wesley, refused Jon another new trial and sentenced Jon to 59 years to life in a Californian prison. Jon has faced 25 criminal charges, he was found guilty of 14 offenses against nine women.

Jon is also set to face charges in New York and Texas; however it is reported that there may be another appeal coming up. Sadly, for the nine women; they will have to go through the details of the attacks yet again.

Autumn had said “to stand up for yourself and not stay in the dark about it cause it's not okay.” Jessie had also commented, “You need to be strong, and you need to believe in yourself”.

It seems like the Britain Fashion Awards held in Central London certainly had a sight to be seen as supermodels from the sixties, seventies and eighties turned up with their daughters!

Twiggy(60), an icon from the sixties brought her daughter Carly(30) along with her to the awards ceremony, Carly also making a trade in the fashion industry is a print designer working alongside Stella McCartney.

Jerry Hall(53), was demonstrating the seventies with her daughter; Georgia Jagger (17). Jagger has modelled for make-up company, Rimmel and is now to be the face of Versace.

Yasmin Le Bon signifying the eighties also came with her daughter, Amber who has just signed with Models 1: the company that looked after her mother for nineteen years.

Georgia was most defiantly the star of the show as she walked away with the Model of The year Award. Congratulations clearly in order.

Like half of the female population, Emily Smith and Bethany Leader; enjoyed the comforts of Britain’s Next Top Model, amazed by fashion and it’s impact on the world, they both took part in The Elite Model Look contest. The competition is used to scout new models internationally, the gala has been running for twenty – six years and had the likes of Cindy Crawford, Gisele Bundchen and Helena Christensen participate.

The competition had 350,000 entrants and was condensed to a mere 67 contestants from 54 countries. The girls were invited to a five-star hotel in Sanya, a Hainan Island off the southern coast of China; the winner and three runners up will have to walk the catwalk in front of the 3,500 warm seats and compete for a guaranteed modeling income.

Emily is a fifthteen year old school girl from Basingstoke, she strolled into a open casting at Elite’s office in North London, a month later and she is competing in one of the most prestigious modeling competition in the world.

Bethany and Emily had to travel and extravagant journey of 6,000 miles on a 25 hour flight alone; this was a nerve – racking experience that they will never forget. ‘It’s been amazing, just amazing,’ says, sixteen year old Bethany Leader. It was clear that Emily Smith was missing her parents, ‘My parents were really worried. My dad kept going on about who would remind me to take my malaria tablets!’
‘…Emily epitomises the current “look” that all the photographers are after – big-haired, doe-eyed, delicate yet arresting. She is very of the moment and has a real chance here … But it’s tricky,’ Janie says ‘Once she is 16 in January, we are happy to work with her, but it is probably best to wait till she has completed her GCSEs and can take the year out. It’s a big decision for her.’  Janie and Michelangelo were keen to introduce the two British contestants to the Milan and Paris offices.

The two weeks in Sanya educated the girls in how to pose, walk the catwalk and perfect that pout.  The girls learnt how to develop their potential of becoming a Supermodel; they behaved like stars and therefore learnt how to cope with being one. With games on the beach and a poolside buffet it certainly wasn’t all work and no play for the hopefuls.

The competition got heated when the 67 contestants was reduced to 15, Emily Smith luckily made it through, with five outfit changes including ball gowns and little black bikini. However, first place was snapped up by seventeen year old Julia Saner; Emily received joint third.
‘Cindy Crawford and Gisele  were runners-up like Emily. So, you know, it bodes very well!’ Said Michelangelo, with tears over Smiths accomplishment.

‘I can see now that it’s not about being Britain’s Next Top Model or even the next Kate Moss. It’s girls like Constance Jablonski and Charlotte di Calypso who I want to be like,’ Emily Said.

With a long flight ahead her, Emily traveled back to the UK to celebrate her success with her parents and two younger sisters; “I really want to pursue this as a career and there is now a possibility that I can start when I am 16.” She stated.

“Apart from her looks, which are completely on trend for fashion’s current mood, Emily’s personality and attitude is what gives her real starquality… She’s so composed in front of the camera. Already, she instinctively knows how to move and interpret the photographer’s direction, which will make her a dream to work with.” supposed Michelangelo.

Emily Smith is a name to watch out for in the near future, dazzling the judges at Elite Model Look; her future is clearly going to be full of achievement, we look forward to seeing her covers.

The star of The Inglorious Bastards, Diane Kruger  began her career on the catwalk, but it looks like she is going to be heading back into the modeling industry as she has been contracted to L’Oreal subsequent the likes of  Evangeline Lilly and Eva Longoria Parker.

“It's a great honour and a huge pleasure to become a spokesperson for L'Oreal Paris. I admire the brand, not only for the quality and innovation of its products, but also because it represents diversity and excellence across the world, values which are very close to my heart. I am, of course, also delighted to be joining the other L'Oreal Paris spokespeople, an extremely talented, widely-admired group of people.” Diane explained.

Jasmine Guinness who began her fashion career as a model, posing in front of a tattered Guinness sign in Jamaica was perfect with her bright- blue eyes and porcelain skin; however her natural talent lied within the designing aspect of the industry.

Opening a toy shop in 2006, Jasmine has come far as she is now working with the likes of Caprice, Peaches Geldoff, Fearne Cotton and Holly Willoughby; “I love clothes and, as a model, it was wonderful to see designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Vivienne Westwood, Roland Mouret and Jasper Conran at work. I jumped at the chance to start doing my own thing.” She stated.

Jasmine had clearly inherited her passion for design, with the Mitford sisters in her extended family and Lulu Guinness who designed handbags.

 “There’s a mix of 1920s, ’30s, ’40s, ’60s and ’70s in what I do. My prints might be inspired by paintings, a dress might be based upon a silhouette in a drawing of one of my great-aunts. It’s about clothes I know that work for a cross-section of women – girls I see in the street, my friends. I’m not 24 any more and I’m inspired by real women, not size-zero models.” Jasmine explained.

Her spring and summer collection completed and on sale as from January, Guinness begins on her autumn and winter range. “It’s all about fit and flatter. A woman wants something that holds her tummy in and her bosom up.”

As the last few years have passed, we have watched models weight fluctuate to fit in with the current fashion trend, we have seen this pass on to the public and watched as girls from as little as twelve years old diet or make themselves sick after eating so that they look the way that models do.

Ana Carolina Reston was a beautiful model from Sao Paulo, Brazil; represented by the prestigious Ford, Elite and L’Equipe Ana travelled the world and modelled for campaigns such as Armani.

Sadly, she had been criticised for being ‘too fat’, this resulted in Reston developing anorexia nervosa and Bulimia she passed away on 15th November 2006. The World Health Organisation considers a BMI (Body Moss Index) of 16 or under as starvation. Ana had a BMI of just 13.4 when she died.

On the 2nd of August 2006, Luisel Ramos a Uruguayan model died of heart failure which was also caused by anorexia nervosa; she has adapted to a diet of lettuce leaves and diet cola. Her BMI was 14.5.

Her younger sister Eliana Ramos also modelled, she passed away on 13th February 2007, at a young age of eighteen. She died of a heat attack, believed to be caused by malnutrition.

It is sad to say that many people, models and the public has tragically died because of a lack of eating healthy. You should try to maintain a balanced diet, and eat a minimum of three times everyday and remember to eat in moderation.

Everybody has there own unique shape and size; you should always remember that you are beautiful the way you are. Fashion goes through trends which change extremely quickly, trying to keep up with the latest “skinny” of “fuller” figures is dangerous.
Love yourself the way you are, the world is full of different figures; that is what makes models become established, that they have something new to bring to the industry.

Shock was sweeping across the model industry tonight (Sunday 29th November 2009), as reports that Solange Magnano (1994 former miss Argentina), has died following complication with some cosmetic surgery.

Solange has for some time been obsessed with maintaining her perfect perk looks, the 38 year old has undergone some four - six operations.  The mother of two maintained a busy modelling career and even though her modelling contracts were reducing Solange had recently opened her own Model Agency.

Although the media across the country have got on the bandwagon of blaming cosmetic surgery for Solange’s death – the model actually died from a Pulmonary embolism (a blockage in the main artery within the lung).  Unfortunately, any operation carries an element of risk and should only be undertaken after considering all the risks involved.

Solange should be remembers as the successful and exceptionally beautiful person she was and our wishes go out to her family.

''I used to have 20/20 vision and my dream was to join the RAF and become a jet or helicopter pilot… But that has been written off because of what happened. It was so unnecessary and had no impact on the people who carried out the attack.” Said Joshua Harvey a 21 year old from Exeter, Devon.

Harvey was attacked on November 25, at 1.30 am after leaving a nightclub; he had been attacked by seven men whom knocked his eye out of its socket, doctors had to insert 3 metal plates and believe that he will never regain full sight.

''There were multiple kicks and punches to my face. I had bruises all over my face and a sore throat from where I was strangled …I had a modelling contract but now have a lovely big scar on my face …I am so angry and I don't even want to go outside.'' Joshua Continued.
Police have been lead to the conclusion that the incident was unprovoked and will cause Joshua many long – term consequences.

'We desperately need to find the people responsible for this. ''There was nothing to provoke this incident which has had a major impact on Joshua's opportunities in life.'' Det Supt Colin Taylor, or Exeter CID explained.

Ella Rose Corby entered a competition created by Stab Magazine; renowned for its celebration of sex, partying and edge Ella won the contest and appeared as a contentious cover girl.

'They are moving into womanhood and they know it.  'They dress older, sneak into clubs and are easily mistaken for adults...You can leer at the 16-year-old as you would an adult woman, so long as you're  ignorant.  'Once you become aware of their age, you must look away.' Said Michael Jennings, a writer for Stab magazine, this article was in the issue that had Ella as a cover girl, he was clearly attempting to defend the magazines use of a 16 year old girl.

The magazine has recently been slandered for its use of a young girl as a form of promotion, 'I think photographs like these are inappropriate, particularly when the young woman is only 16.' Said Local MP Justine Elliot.  The image in itself consisted of Corby posing nude with graffiti all over her body, Ella preserved herself by crossing her leg and covering her chest.

Winning a prize resulting in representation by Chic Management, Ella Rose Corby has been bullied by her peers because of the nude cover. 'She is encountering some bullying from other girls of her age. ‘I think the family are a bit overwhelmed at the moment, they really are. The  mum's in a bit of shock.' Said Kathy Ward Chic’s representative.

'From Chic's point of view, the shoot that Ella participated in was totally  inappropriate … we would never allow such a shoot to progress if we knew that  that was the creative brief,' she said. Kathy Ward also said that Ella was worried about the impact the photo shoot would have on her modeling career.

According to Stab’s magazine journalist Ella’s nude poses were the beginning of a dream for her, however when her mother found out she apparently “freaked out.”  Her father believed that it was something that she would have to get used to if she was to continue to work within the industry.

Let this be a reminder to young models that to participate in a photo shoot; you must have a parent or guardian to go along with you to prevent any danger. You can always say no and not allow yourself to be pushed in to a situation you are not comfortable with.

Ford and V magazine have collaborated again in search of the next big thing in the modeling industry. The winner will of course appear in a spread for V magazine and a modeling contract with Ford Models. “It’s another way of saying this winner will hit the fashion ground running," said Ford.

With more than 6,000 model applicants last year, Norwegian Lea Groesland the 15 year old won the competition and has since appeared in a Benetton Campaign.

Modelling for the likes of designers such John Galliano, Christian Dior and Prada; Miss O’Conner the model from Walsall is estimate to be worth £12 Million according to the Sunday Times Rich List.

O’ Conner a face of Marks and Spencer’s, was once described by Karl Lagerfeld as an ‘anti – beauty’. The 31 year old was regularly told to have cosmetic surgery within the beginning of her modelling career.

“In the early days of my modelling career, I think the industry was uncomfortable with how strikingly different I was. For example, I was told to have a nose job and get my breasts done. But I suddenly got very stubborn and thought ‘Well, no." She explained.  

“This is me,’ and suddenly I was being hailed as ‘a new form of beauty’. So I was able to advance my personality just by being the person I was to the outside world – six foot tall and authoritative,” O’ Conner told the Radio Times.

Cosmetic surgery in the UK has tripled in the last 6 years to a exorbitant 34,000 cases, mostly consisting of tummy tucks, nose jobs and Breast enhancements. The worrying thought is that this is due to the pressure put on by society to look a particular way.

“I worry about how accessible cosmetic surgery has become. Of course, if it has genuinely helped people and their confidence has grown as a result, who am I to form an opinion? But I think there are better routes to confidence than trying to freeze time.” She said.

Erin O’Conner has criticized designers and there force on the industry creating the size zero obsession believing that they are producing clothing that even the skinniest women could not fit into. She also spoke about ageism and how it is assumed that with age you lose your image. “I am concerned about ageism in society and the loss of beauty, the perception that as you grow older, you ‘lose your looks’, which I think is diabolical.”

However, she appears in a campaign for Marks and Spencer’s with Mylene Class also 31 and Twiggy who is 60; this is a rare exception in the industry for an older lady to be featured on television. It is fantastic to see an older model still be used for campaigns, this should become a ‘trend’ instead of a size fascination.

A young South Korean model was found hanged in her Paris apartment by her boyfriend according to a police official.

Daul Kim worked regularly in Paris, New York and Milan; she was said to be under a lot of stress and pressure. Police have been working over the theory that the 20 year old had committed suicide.

Persistent blogs have assisted the hypothesis thought of by the police, "mad depressed and overworked," "the more i gain the more lonely it is ... i know i'm like a ghost." These were posted October 30th 2009.  Her last blog titled “say hi to forever”, contained the music video I Go Deep" by British singer Jim Rivers; November 18th 2009.  Needless to say, it sounded like Kim was not in a stable situation within her conscious.

South Korean bloggers are in bereavement of Daul’s death assuming she had lost herself within the high fashion industry. Alessandra Bertoldini, Kim’s Agent from Next model agency said that Dauls mother was arriving in Paris on Friday; however she declined to go in to details.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development has thirty nations and among them, South Korea has the highest suicide rate. Over the past year it has had various deaths of high-flyers such as Former President Roh Moo-hyun jumped to his death after a scandal.

In a popular South Korean soap opera, a young, admired actress committed suicide in 2008, and to join this Choi Jin – Sil an extremely triumphant actress also took her life in a similar pattern.

Known for her astonishing figure, standing at 5”10; Daul Kim astounded people by her stunningly thick hair which ranged from her naturally dark colour to blonde. Having an impeccable taste in fashion, Kim had worn like Chanel, Dries van Noten and Maison Martin Margiela, and had freshly appeared in a commercial for Christopher Kane’s range at Topshop.

Daul Kim had traveled the world in her extravagant modeling career; although the details of her death are not certain; we gladly respect the work she did within the industry may she rest in peace.

On 12th November 2009, Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate announced plans to ban upfront fees.  This was a move welcome by many within the entertainment industry in particular. Although this move has not gone as far as we had hoped, it is we believe a start on a long path for reform and legislation within the model industry.

However, after contacting the Department for Culture (the government department setup specifically to improve the Entertainment and Culture Industries), we were surprised that James Butler goes on to advise us “We do not believe that regulation is required” when discussing the need for regulation to protect models.

With a very unclear knowledge of both the model industry and the need for reform, one would surely be surprised that the Culture advisor was making such sweeping comments?  In fact one may ask where / who Mr Butler had consulted to get his conclusion, as it was not anyone within the model industry (but perhaps the source would prove as difficult as weapons of mass destruction to find?).

Unlike many governments across the world we have been in contact with, in regards to regulation reform; we are surprised that the UK government has been so non-committal and in denial that a problem exists.   Perhaps they are looking at setting up their own Institute of Modeling; labour has always been about “jobs for the boys” and lets face it most of them only have six months left in their current roles.

Perhaps a Conservative government will have a fresh look at working directly with industry experts and consulting the industry rather than their text books.

Founded in 2003 by the model agency Profile; the 22 year old model, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley  has been featured in campaigns for Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and DKNY., the beautiful model replaced Agyness Dyne as the face of Burberry.

However the tables took a turn for the worst in 2008; when a picture of her which looked like she was holding a ‘bong’ was released on to the internet. A friend of hers jumped to the defense saying that ‘She is aware of the picture’s existence, but she was 18 or 19 when that was taken. She’s just turned 21 so it’s two or three years old.’ Burberry declined to comment. She was then dropped by the fashion house.

She also recently split from her long-term boyfriend, Tyrone Ronnie from the Rolling Stones son whom she met in Barcelona 2007. Tyrone had claimed to be ‘madly, deeply in love’ at an interview in 2008. They still remain friends, but Rosie says she can now completely focus on work.

This year the model from Tavistock in Devon, was named Model Of The Year at Elle Style Awards. Rosie declares that she knew she was meant for something big when she was offered to participate in the campaign for Victoria’s Secret, in conjunction with Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio and  Marissa Miller.

'I'm very proud to be the only British spokesmodel for Victoria's Secret. It has been an ongoing relationship for four years now, and 2009 has been such an exciting year for me…I have lots of projects in the pipeline. I'm gearing up for the Victoria's Secret show in New York City this week, and am looking forward to the release of the 2010 Pirelli Calendar. I hope 2010 will bring more exciting opportunities and projects,’ Rosie said.

She flew to Brazil to shoot for the 2010 calendar. Rosie will reportedly be taking part in the annual Victoria's Secret catwalk, to be viewed by millions.

The two teenagers are believed to be stirring up a storm in the fashion industry, Aimee 13 and Liam Chirio 15; are just two average teenagers with common passions for music, dance, motorbikes and football.

But it seems that they are naturally meant for the catwalk, Aimee the younger of the two educated at St. Monica’s College believes that being involved with the drama and dance department at school has encouraged her confidence with seen infront of large groups.

Liam Chirio attending St. Augustine’s College, has volunteered for many school TV commercials and has begun to feel relaxed with modeling. The pair have already featured in charity parades and entered modeling by participating with Velvet Underground presented by Nikki’s Hair Design at Edmonton.

Liam and Aimee are set to appear in Opals Fashion Bash, Townsville; they are said to compete in the Miss Australia fashion awards and Rachael Finch Rising Star Award. The Chirio two are a pair to watch in the up and coming future as they have already made a dramatic entrance to the industry in Cairns.

“Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels”

Why everyone feels the need to jump onto a comment as if it were a sermon given to pilgrims on how to live their live, who knows?   The latest ‘Kate scandal’ to hit every paper in the UK, implying that skinny feels good!

Kate Moss is on this occasion right; skinny does feel better than any food tastes.  However, given the fact that we are becoming a obese society, I guess it’s no real surprise Kate has been given some hassle over this comment.

However, putting the blame on her for all teenage anorexia in the same week as bullying is blamed for anorexia seems a little over the top.

Models such as Kate Moss would not sell if she had a fuller figure and fuller more rounded face – she would be your average next door girl.  Kate Sells magazines because of her well defined and toned figure and if you were earning £10m a year for been skinny, I’m sure you would feel pretty good too.

Lets get some perspective, Kate’s BMI is 18.1, okay this is just under the 18.5 guideline, but is no more likely to cause health problems than our UK average of BMI 24.7 (Avg Height 5.4 / Weight 65kg)

We are in no way suggesting that denying food is good when its prolonged, but this was never the suggestion.  A healthy eating pattern is very important, an average diet in the life of Kate consists of  Pro-biotic yogurt toast and fruit, Grilled meat and veg for Lunch and Dinner – if only we all had that control!

After many celebrities such as Paris Hilton and Jessica Parker bringing out fragrances, Kate Moss launching a range at Topshop, the next to embrace designing a campaign is Claudia Schiffer.

Appearing in over 500 magazine covers, Claudia Schiffer a supermodel putting her stamp on the 1990’s is allegedly producing her own fashion range. After representing many different brands, supporting various designer labels; Schiffer is now looking for partners to back the launch of her line.

Claudia claims that it takes her a long time to become close to somebody, but once the friendship is there it will not be broken. Enjoying doing things that make her feel good about herself, Schiffer is now pulling on those friendship string to help her promote her latest project of her clothing line.

Staring in Chanel and Guess campaigns her brand is reportedly to feature handbags and cashmere as Claudia feels that Cashmere is something classic, in which she’d love to put her own fashion spin on it. The supermodel claims that customers know when the producer doesn’t believe in there own product, which is why she is using cashmere in her campaign.

Schiffer states that although she has new interests, she is maintaining her modeling career; Claudia is still representing Yves Saint Lauren and Alberta Ferretti in recent promotions. We Expect Schiffer will receive as much success with her latest business interest as she did with her modeling career.

Susie Hutson, the 30 year old mum of one; victoriously beat 10,000 hopefuls to a £50,000 modeling contract.

"I wanted to turn my life around and do something for me…There were so many girls who entered, I didn't expect to win. I'm still in shock …I have always wanted to be a working mum and make my son proud …When I said I wanted to do modelling a lot of people told me I was too old, but that just spurred me on. You're never too old, really … I want to inspire mums out there to follow their dreams so they have something when the kids grow up." She said.

Susie will be the face of Wickedelic Lingerie, creating a 2010 calendar; the proceeds will go to charities such as Combat Stress and Help for Heroes. The now Pin Up for Wickedlic posed for Peterborough United FC, to persuade votes to help her win the competition.

"I thought it would be great to get the forces to help me with it, and there are loads stationed near Peterborough …Some of the boys asked me to be the squadron sweetheart, which was an even greater honour than winning the competition." Hutson said pleased about being the RAF’s sweetheart.

Left pregnant and made redundant just before her now two year old son was born, has certainly received a change in her luck since entering the competition. With a 34B bust, she can now buy her son all the things he needs to help support him with his hearing difficulties.
With a visit to 3 Squadron at RAF Wittering resulting in a little romance, Susie is certainly setting a prime example to single mums with ambition. "I met him on my second visit there and he's asked me to wait for him. I said yes straight away…I know it sounds cheesy but we just clicked. He's the one I've been waiting for …I know I'll be a blubbering mess when he goes, but I'd love to visit the troops for support when they're out there."

The modeling industry is an easy place to manipulate young hopefuls, many agencies and agents have taken advantage of this by charging an upfront fee, claiming to find work and then not fulfilling there promises.

This exploitation has been going on for many years and sadly a large amount of models have experienced problems with recruitment agencies promising work and not delivering. However, after a long hard debate to help prevent this mistreatment of models; finally the realisation that a ban of upfront fees is needed.

From October 2010, new regulations will mean that agencies will not be able to charge upfront fees; this will hopefully reduce the exploitation. Although this is a promising start, the industry still has many flaws waiting to be resolved; hopefully this ban will act as a catalyst.

Kate Moss spotted whilst at an airport, Liberty Ross discovered as she was shopping on Oxford Street; the scouts from Storm Model Management are back on the search for the latest talent in the fashion and modeling industry.

The coach company National Express and Storm Model Management have collaborated to tour the U.K in search of the next big thing in the fashion world.  

“We’re really confident that we’ll find some incredible British talent to work with … It’s a great opportunity for us as it’s a unique idea. We’re very excited about who could be out there just waiting for a lucky break,” explained Sarah Doukas.

Angelic eyes, a flawless pout, wonderful cheekbones and glistening skin; Lila Grace the next generation of Moss is setting hopes high already as she perfects her mums catwalk pose.

Iris, Sadie Frost and Jude Law’s daughter, had an eighth birthday party that will never be forgotten. With the theme being ‘Model’, who better to teach Iris and Lila Grace how to walk the runway with style; than the infamous Kate Moss herself.

Kate brought the eight year olds a variety of clothes to wear, to help them create the model look at their catwalk party. The girls had their hair and make – up done professionally for the occasion.

Most of the young girls at the model party wanted to be Kate, it seems that the ‘I don’t care pose’ has also caught Lila and Iris as they now also want to model too. Its not surprising that Lila is following in mummy’s footsteps, making a fashion statement is the least as Lila-Grace promotes an ‘I Love Kate Moss’ T-Shirt.

The launch of the new line at Topshop set to commence, will mini moss be supporting the campaign; by modeling anymore Kate moss ensembles. We look forward to seeing more from Lila – Grace and her mum Kate Moss.

After a tragic death of Australian actor Heath Ledger; Gemma Ward who was said to be dating him vanished from the eyes of the fashion industry. It has been reported that she was under a lot of pressure and criticism regarding her weight.

Previously criticised for being to thin, she has now received various vicious online attacks from a world-wide blogger concerning her new fuller figure. Gemma has reportedly claimed no immediate plans to return to the limelight.

However, Ward has support from her agency and many others around her to help her through this difficult time and we hope to see her walking the runway again, regardless of what size and weight she is.

Fraudsters have been exploiting people in the modeling industry for many years, although the industry is attempting to prevent this; rogue agents are now appearing as legit agencies, by illegally using the branded name.

FHM, and Glamour have each been affected by these hoax agencies, con-artists have used there name to manipulate models in to paying money for photo shoots that never happen.

The addresses and names that the tricksters were using were traced, leading to people that had no connection to any of the businesses. When researching into model agencies, be careful to prevent being scammed.

Most of these fake agencies will use free email addresses, such as gmail, or hotmail. If it is a valid company the email address will be similar to the company name for example, info@instituteofmodeling.org.

Also, check the address of the company; an established agency will be featured all over the internet, see if the address is the same on several different websites that you trust. If it isn’t avoid the agency, its better to protect yourself from the hoaxes than to hope they are official.

Scammers are smarting there ways to exploit models, they are constantly finding new ways to hoax people. Remember to be wise and if the address or email doesn’t seem correct, it probably isn’t. Do not trust it.  If In doubt check out the agency on the Institute of Modeling website.

Lettuce leaves and water isn’t a diet for Lily Cole, unlike most models who suffer from a fear of food, Lily loves to cook and try a variety of different foods. Starting with a salad, with a mix of blue cheese, figs and pine nuts; she also likes a bit of spice by adding cloves to rice and making vegetarian curries.

Enjoying cooking with her family and friends, a nice leisurely stroll through the Hyde Park and stopping off for a bite to eat at the Orangery restaurant sounds like her perfect afternoon.

Combining modeling with her education has been a hard  for Lily but has made her the down to earth person she is, university and her modeling career; at the weekend its time for her to let her hair down. A party on a Saturday night with a live band, a lazy Sunday with a good book or film is the perfect break from Cole’s hard working life.

Cole’s mother Sadie Cole, is an artist, so appreciation for fine art comes naturally, her opinion of good artwork is something that interrupts history.  As Christmas is upon us, Lily believes it’s a time in which she can get away from work and concentrate on her family.

Although, her TV show revolves around celebrities and Hollywood, Chelsea believes that she wouldn’t be concerned if Hollywood disappeared; the hearty 34 year old claims there are some celebrities she enjoys joking about and others that she doesn’t.

Playboy has said that Chelsea is “our kind of girl,” we look forward to seeing her much anticipated cover.

A model agency based in the West Midlands is proof that an agency doesn’t have to be based in London to achieve, Wolverhampton model agency, Sapphires has competed against international agencies and achieved the contract with Japans leading chain, Uniqlo.

“When we opened a modeling agency outside of London people thought we were mad, but now we’re working with some big industry people across the world and we hope that it will encourage other creatives in the region to strive for the same success.” Says Ms Reyes, who set the business up as of a loan from the Princes Trust Award 2005.

Neely Reyes could not believe her luck when Ms de Villeneuve from Sapphires Model Agency was selected for Uniqlo in a 2009 Winter Fleece Campaign. With conference calls from her living room, Neely has proved that smaller companies can compete against the high-flying establishments of London.

Its seems as though modelling isn’t only for super skinny leggy women, but babies too; the BBC took a look into the lives of people whom allow there children to take part in modelling, the documentary was called; My Supermodel Baby.

“The key to all this is keeping it very very natural,...What you don't want is an artificial image.” Mark the casting director has said as he goes into Photoshop; the eyes get brightened, the skin tightened and dribble wiped away and there you have it a picture perfect cover baby.

For some covers a mother or father is needed too, as for ‘keeping it real’ a model mother is used, with her delicate porcelain skin and stretch free figure. “It has to be believable,” Ruth the Art Director commented, “We can't afford to put a cover out there and people go: mmm, that's a model, and that's not her baby.”

Whilst a model stands holding the baby cradling it, just how a real mother should; the real mothers are behind the camera jumping around and pulling silly faces so that there child can laugh and smile for the camera, picture perfect. Not bad for £60 an hour, babies aged 18 to 24 months seem to be the next catwalk superstars.

Glyn Davies, the 50 year old superior of an entertainment agency, a prior soldier made a seventeen year old girl pose naked for the camera. After these pornographic photos were taken he later assaulted her.

This incident was reported to the police, resulting in a raid gathering evidence against him. The man from Herd Green, Livingston was discovered with hardcore child porn on his computer, Davies later pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography, encouraging a girl under eighteen to pose for pornographic photos and attacking her.

Despite his solicitor, Richard Goddard defending him, claiming that Glyn Davies had to give up work over the allegation and that he was distressed man over it.; Lord Brailsford of the High Court in Edinburgh had discovered previous convictions for child pornography and sentenced him to two years imprisonment.

'I am a vegetarian and I know what works for my body. Life is about having fun and enjoying yourself but it's also important to know what's good for your body and what energises your body,' Miranda Kerr said.

After the images had been released for Australia’s Grazia being slated for apparently being ‘too skinny’ was clearly just more encouragement to write a book about healthy eating and a new skin care range set for release next year.

'I am conscious of not only maintaining but promoting a healthy lifestyle and I wouldn't be able to sustain the hectic nature of my modeling commitments if I wasn't 100 per cent committed to feeding my body the food, vitamins and minerals it needs.' Kerr replied to critics, suspecting she was severely dieting for fashions ‘need’ of  tiny women.

It is plain to see that the 26 year old partner of Orlando Bloom has not been taken in by the size zero craze, and believes that she is perfectly healthy the way she is, we look forward to hearing her opinion of healthy food when her new book is released next year.

Modelling for life insurance, Tampax and frozen food Helen Doyle Rutzen; graced our magazine ads and set the bar extremely high for future models.

Sorrowfully, Helen passed on the 8th October 2009 at her home in Delray Beach; she was 94 years old and suffering from dementia, her son took her modelling portfolio to the doctor’s appointments so that they could see how important she was.  Helen was widowed after the passing of her husband whom was one of the original FBI “G-Men”, Arthur Rutzen.

Helen first went by the name Doyle Knox, she entered her modelling career as if by accident as she was sending a prior lover a glorious shot of herself; "The first year was discouraging… I was really hurt by the criticism... my hair wouldn't be right, my expression wrong, my dress not just right." Rutzen had said in an interview.

Appearing a Budweiser campaign in 1944, Helen was also a Coca – Cola girl; her tear – sheet re-emerged in a 2007 calendar still stunning the public with her beauty. Later, Rutzen retired “Taking care of a nice family, home and garden is really a more worthwhile job,” Helen had told newspapers.

Helen Doyle Rutzen was one of the first models to amaze us with her incredible photos, at an incredible 94 years old she sadly passed from us may she rest in peace and her presence forever remembered.

Model Katie had been dating her attacker David Lynch for just a few weeks, sadly last March Lynch attacked her and raped her in a hotel room. Later contacting her, Lynch persuaded Katie to go to a local café, which was close to her flat in North London.

“As I came out of the door, this guy walked towards me in a hoodie …It hit like this side of my face and it was eating across my face and just like some contagious disease eating me up.” Katie had Reported; David Lynch had encouraged Stefan Sylvestre to throw Sulphuric acid over the young model; causing severe scarring to her face.

The Acid burned through four layers of Katies skin, she was blinded in one eye and was in need of 30 operations; Katie was only able to communicate through written words, she begged her mum to kill her so that she didn’t have to endure the painful operations needed to reconstruct her face.

 “I thought, 'someone's going to have to hand me another mirror because this one is totally broken'…Then I realised it was me. I wanted to smack it in my face and cut my face open and tear the whole thing off.”

26 year old piper did not give up, she went through with the surgery, the surgeons used artificial skin and grafted from other parts of her body, she wears a pressure mask for twenty three hours to lock in moisture and to help flatten/reduce the scaring.

David Lynch and Stefan Sylvestre have been jailed for life.
Katie Piper had said, “ I want to move on from my attack and I don't want to be a scared little child…I was a fun person. I had lots of friends…I want to blossom again into a confident, able woman.”

Newly, Ralph Lauren Model; Flippa Hamilton a 5”10, 120lbs, size 8 super model was fired for being “too Fat”; Hamilton gives her opinion on the issue: “They fired me because they said I was overweight and I couldn't fit in their clothes anymore.”

Flippa’s contract was not renewed with Ralph Lauren ; a photoshopped image of her was released; her head was larger than her hips. Is this really an ideology that we should be passing onto young influential people? Being skinny has been a craze for quite a while, but now it really has gone too far! “I was shocked to see that super skinny girl with my face. It's very sad, I think, that Ralph Lauren could do something like that.” Hamilton commented.

It seems that being crazily thin is not only a fashion trend but becoming a lifestyle; not only are model’s who already have little weight being forced to lose more but people are picking up on these ideas and believing that it is a way of life.

There are many influential people who have a durastic impact on us socially, models like Crystal Renn and Cindy Crawford have a beautiful body which is more realistic than photoshopped models; surely this should be an example set for the younger generations?

Michelle Obama is a perfect example of a real woman with a realistic body size; she was one of the 100 most influential people and gave a speech at the awards; “I never imagined that, as a result of all that support, I would be in a position to be a role model for girls around the globe. Girls who look at me and see something more for themselves, more than society expects of them. Girls who now think anything is possible. As global leaders, let’s not underestimate the power each of us has to change the world for someone -– and let us not be afraid to try.”

Whether you are of a larger frame or a tiny one you should be proud of your figure; the world is full of different shapes and sizes, surely being extremely thin takes away the unique frame that everybody has.

Ralph Lauren commented on the issue after letting Flippa Hamilton go, “after further investigation, we have learned that we are responsible for the poor imaging and retouching that resulted in a very distorted image of a woman's body.” However, there was sadly no apology to Miss Hamilton they went on to say that Flippa was fired because “a result of her inability to meet the obligations under her contract with us."

The daughter of Mick Jagger discovered a passion for make-up during her modeling career, with Rimmel London, already using women with strong personalities and stunning beauty there next campaign will hopefully succeed worldwide.

Having already appeared on the cover of Vogue, and advertisings for Hudson Jeans teamed with Coco Rocha; who has modelled for The Gap and Calvin Klein, Rimmel should stir up a storm globally.

Georgia has already gained contracts for many campaigns coming next year, we wish her as much luck and success with her modeling career as her father received during his music career. We anticipate seeing her face much more over the years too come.

Vogue has been know to be fairly controversial, with pregnant models being shot smoking; but is blacking out naturally pale skinned, blonde models going a bit far?

Daryl Somers was made to apologise after a sketch on Hey Hey It’s Saturday; their impression of the Jackson 5 consisted of painting their faces black, but the French Vogue magazine has published in this month’s edition a white model, black.

Vogue has been accused of painting her face white for amusement of other white people; they have also been told that the edition was culturally insensitive. Carine Roitfield, the magazines editor says that they were unaware of being controversial.

A small farm girl calendar causes trouble when a model is revealed to be German. "I love animals, which is why I agreed to be in the calendar and I'm proud of my body and wanted to show it off." Said Johanna, the German D Cup Model.

This sexy calendar was supposed to temp all senses by using twelve Swiss models, posing among nature; however it all turned sour when it was revealed that one of the Swiss models was infact German.

Photographed cuddling two animals, Johanna the German model had been chosen over Swiss models for a Swiss model calendar. "It is not as if there are not enough good-looking Swiss girls. There was no reason for them to take a German girl." Local girls argued in defence for Swiss models.

Giorgio Armani has announced that the next to model underwear will be Christiano Ronaldo, with underwear and jeans to advertise the campaign will begin next year in 2010.

Ronaldo beginning renowned internationally for his superb football skills, playing for Manchester United, Real Madrid and Portugal’s national team; who better to model his range than a worldwide idol.

With a former Manchester United football team, David Beckham also supporting Armani’s clothing range in the past, it could be said that the Italian designer has a fascination with Manchester United’s football players. One would only wonder if Wayne Rooney was to be next…

Claudia Schiffer an icon of the 1990’s she has appeared on hundreds of magazine covers and walked many runways wearing some of the most influential designer outfits from the likes of Valentino, Versace, Ralph Lauren and Dolce & Gabbana.

However it is to be no more, Schiffer reportedly told Vogue that she was through with modeling on the catwalk; “I am finished with the runway… I won't miss it. I am still modeling and I enjoy that a lot but no more runways.”

Although, this isn’t the first time that Claudia has said her goodbyes to the runway; so only time will tell whether she is serious this time; perhaps she is going to follow the lead of other 90’s idols such as Naomi Campbell and move on to other things.

“I can sit on the side and view the outfits and see all the detail and that suits me fine … It's very enjoyable. I like my new viewpoint.” Said Schiffer; maybe this is final and there is no going back either way we look forward to seeing what she does next.

Falling pregnant, Liza Elliott-Ramirez thought he career would come to a holt as she prepared to give birth to her baby;  “I was trying to hide the pregnancy. I hid it until I could,” the New York model feared there would be no or little work for a pregnant model.

However, learning that there was still undoubtedly a need for models; Liza became her own agent in search for modelling work. “When I got pregnant there weren't any agencies that specialized in pregnant models”, Elliott-Ramirez said. “I knew that pregnant models were getting work and I thought, 'why can't I get some of those jobs … I actually became my own agent,” she continued.

“I did all the footwork. I went very aggressive trying to find out who was casting for the GAP or whichever company. Alot of people that got my] pictures booked me directly,” Liza commented.

Working up until near her due date, Elliott-Ramirez had done stunning photos with her husband, “I loved my belly,”  she said. “I got to work with my husband who also modeled at the time. We did some photo sessions together with him snuggled up to me where he held my belly.”
 
Then realizing there was a niche in the market, screaming out for pregnant models; she set up her own models agency, Expecting INC which began in July 2001. “Within two weeks, I had 14 models and my first booking with Motherhood that got me a couple thousand dollars,” It was reported that most of her first clients were close friends.

After Demi Moore hit the covers of Vanity magazine whilst being pregnant, the company thrived; Expecting Inc toke part in, ‘Runway Moms’ and pregnant models can easily find more work.

“They're working with the same type of clients. They can't fall apart on the set. I need skilled, professionals that know how to move their bodies, … The opportunities are still out there,… After eight years, we're the go to for pregnant models.”

Supporting only experienced models; Liza steers the models away from nude shots and then encourages nursing after the child is born, she believes that the models are all beautiful and just need that little help and support.

“My passion is doing this, … This is my baby. It's a busy business. We're a small company, but it's a big name.” Elliot – Ramirez finished.

An increasing number of ‘banning small model’ statements put out by large blue-chip companies and designers are flooding the headlines. Let us not forget these are the same companies that since the 90’s have supported size zero models such as the Ramos sister.

Although we agree on control and regulation within the industry, to simply ban all petite models is ludicrous.  Beauty and healthy body images comes in all shapes, sizes and colours.  To simply ban one group is discrimination and we would urge anyone considering these steps to consult us.

Models ranging from Kate Moss (7st 7lbs) with a BMI of 16.9 through to Crystal Renn (11st 11lbs)  with a BMI of 26.6 are both healthy models.  Access should be given to both.  Our BMI index of 16 through to 30, ensures that all models are healthy.  Let us remember that Luisel Ramos had a BMI of just 13.8 when she died.

Working together and consulting partners in both health and nutrition is the best way forward.  The Industry should not just turn its back on its models when fads change and equally models should not be encouraged to be yo-yoing their weights to suit trends.

It seems as though an on-going battle continued at Paris Fashion Week, Stella Mc-Cartney and ex- assistant, Phoebe Philo went head to head at the catwalk shows this week.

Best friends years ago, Mc Cartney and Phoebe Philo worked along side each other at Chloe fashion label; infact Phoebe was Stella’s top assistant until she left to set up her own label, Phoebe was promoted and given McCartney’s old job.

Phoebe’s success was extreme until Stella started making profit in 2007, they were both confronted at the fashion week as Phoebe was given the job for house of Celine.  There collections consisted of the same pallet, rose gold, khaki, ivory and tobacco. But there designs roared much difference.

Phoebes collection streamed in the eyes of the public, with sharp edged leather jackets, silk trousers with extreme wide leg; she was determined to make the name Celine established; Stella took a simpler look, button through denim dresses and lined jackets exposing a slight lace.

“… today's woman is confident to simply be herself”, McCartney commented probably referring to herself.
Both bringing out wedged sandals McCartney named hers Linda after shoes her mother had worn; however the ‘Linda’s’ failed to achieve next to Phoebes sandals with chunky wooden wedge heels.

The pair are both renowned for trend setting collections, but what will next season reveal for us as their battle continues?

'It's so fantastic to be involved with a bra company that supports larger girls,' she says ecstatically.

The streets of Manchester, the faces of builders, shop assistants, managers and waitress’s in shock at what appeared to be a sea of women in tight, leather, black trousers, topless and jingling a bucket for change.

Allegedly troops from the British forces has had no choice but to get a second job to be able to purchase more equipment; appalled by this Fanny Gogh an artist organised a topless streak to raise money for our soldiers.
“We want to get our lads some decent luxury items, if it means us getting our boobs out then we are going to do it ….We don't want to come across as really really political but on a serious note they are not being looked after so we are here to look after them today.” Sarah Longbottom told us about her brother serving in the forces; the page three girl was clearly doing what she does best to help earn some donations.

From the producers of Britain’s Next Top Model, a new television programme; Kitchen sink to Catwalk is set to hit your screens next year and is anticipated to be an excellent show.

Six hopefuls will compete against each other to win a contract with modeling agency Models One.

The competition is for woman over the age of forty, to remind them to be confident in themselves; style icons like Cindy Crawford are still rocking the catwalk. This television show will hopefully fight against ageism in the industry.

“Here’s my naked body!” Olivia Hernandez said, whilst standing naked infront of art students for a three hour drawing class. “When you’re naked in front of someone you’re going to have sex with, they’re judging your body. The students aren’t thinking whether or not my boobs are big enough, they’re observing line, tone and volume.”

Art student, Katherine Perez believes that drawing human models is the most complex; it is extremely important for the students to learn because of the difference in body form.

“They are an irreplaceable resource that is crucial to the process of creating art and learning technique,” Perez, Wichita senior, commented. “The human form is one of the most used subjects in the fine arts. If anything I respect them for their willingness to put themselves out there for the arts.”

Olivia believes that nude modelling can sometimes be classed as pornography; however she believes that the human body and its form is beautiful, therefore posing nude is art.

“At first my mom just thought I just took my clothes of for money,” Hernandez explained.  “After seeing some of the artwork done of me, her whole mindset changed. It’s art, it’s beautiful and it should be celebrated.”

Olivia believes that modelling nude for art students has improved her confidence and opinion of herself; “Once I blacked out and woke up butt-ass naked with my head in some random student’s lap,” she said. “The paramedics were taking my blood pressure with my vagina in their face. That taught me to be able to laugh at myself real quick.”

Another nude model is 55 year old, Kent Van Dusseldorp; “Because the human body is one of the hardest things to draw,” said Dusseldorp, “if you can draw it, you can draw most anything else.”

Art students need a variety of different models, to see the difference in bone structure and muscle tone; nude modelling is one of the only areas in which any model can be used!

The assistant to the chairman of the visual art department; Shannon Bybee believes that live models are the most important part to the art students as dolls and mannequins are not realistic.

“Well Barbie is definitely not in proportion,” Shannon Bybee exposed.

“I don’t blame anyone, I made the decision to be a model and to have an eating disorder, and I was prepared to do anything to accomplish my dream. I thank the experience taught me everything to appreciate myself today,” Renn explained her intense battle with food as she attempted to rise to the top.

Crystal Renn had always wanted to achieve her dreams, this being a supermodel she did everything in her power to achieve; sadly this was slowly killing herself. Swimming at ridiculous hours in the morning, Crystal reported on her fitness regime, “I sat on the edge psyching myself up, forcing myself to get into the pool. Eventually I just threw myself in, I made myself do laps for over an hour; I was screaming and sobbing the whole time. I just had this image of myself on the runway…”

“I honestly couldn’t feel myself, I would have to literally count the veins on my arm when looking in mirror for reassurance that I was still standing in the same place that I was yesterday,” Finally tired of being a ridiculously small size, the anorexic model refused to continue with the wishes of the fashion industry.

Crystal put on weight, she is now a curvy size twelve and happy that she doesn’t have a horrible battle daily over a lettuce leaf and a diet coke; her career has improved. "People actually want to work with us because we’re happy, our individuality is prized. Before I was just another straight-faced lemming, we all looked the same,"

Renn has now produced a book, Hungry this is available in most stores and online; Learn about the struggle to maintain weight within the fashion world and how she came back. Stronger. “I want to see all different shapes and sizes on the runway, … And I want the sample size to be a 10. A zero should not be the norm.”

Reality TV Contestant, Ryan Jenkins was charged with the tragic murder of Jasmine Fiore, his wife, appallingly Jasmines body was found in a suitcase within a bin.

Days after her remains had been exposed; Ryan had committed suicide in a Canadian motel.

The playboy model had an emotional funeral at her hometown of Santa Cruz more than 200 guests had arrived to pay their respects, her mother and ex-boyfriend read moving tributes and shared lasting memories of Fiore.

A public memorial will be held later in October, in Las Vegas.

Amanda May the director for the designer Mark Fast explains about the difference in opinion over using larger models on the catwalk; “We wanted women to know they don't have to be a size zero to wear a Mark Fast dress - curvier women can look even better in one.”

Mark Fast creates knit-ware lines, designing hip-hugging mini – dresses; Fast has ditched his old ways of ‘One size fits all’ and categorizing his clothes in a size range. However, his garments will not be organized numerically, he claims that this is to change the perspective of size.

A casting director and stylist the London Fashion Week show, when the decision to use average models was decided; the show had three models which were size twelve to fourteen participating.

“The decision to use the fuller girls is something we have been talking about,” Amanda had said. There's this idea that only thin and slender women are able to wear Mark's dresses and he wanted to combat that.”

The three models had been taken from the agency, 12+ UK. One of the models, Hayley Morley had met Mark at the photography exhibition, All Walks beyond The Catwalk.

Amanda did not go in to details about the leaving of stylist and casting director; “we don't want to talk about the ugly bits, we want to talk about the beautiful bits” but she did say that there were “creative differences with regards to the casting of those girls”.  

May concluded that herself and Mark were happy that they stuck to the decision of using the models.

Presently, there are about 300 models whom pose for Artists in Italy, sadly roughly only fifty of them have a fixed annual contract; the rest only are only part-time needed and earn about £19 an hour.

“Our work is not recognised. We pose for eight hours a day and still the colleges treat us like teaching tools.” Antonella Migliorini told Italy’s La Stampa newspaper; clearly aggravated by the issue, Antonella is one of the many protestors. “We do a difficult job, with a great tradition resting on our shoulders, which requires both imagination and great physical concentration.”

The Models have gone on Strike and refused to pose nude; gathering at the Entrance of Italy’s finest University, La Sapienza. An education ministry official has apparently agreed to meet them.

It was one of the many rows during an intense nine month relationship which lead to the murder of model, Amy Barnes. Ricardo Morrison, the boyfriend of Cosmopolitan model had prior convictions for other ex-partners; he managed to stab Amy nine times and slash her face.

Amy had called her mother asking to be picked up as Morrison had locked her in his grandmother’s house; sadly her father arrived too late. She managed to call 999, saying to
the operator; “I'm dying. He's stabbed me to death. I'm dying. Please help me.” When asked who had stabbed her, Amy replied “My boyfriend.”  Mr Barnes (Amy’s father) had found Amy unconscious.

The next door neighbour claimed that he seen a man to Morrison’s description clean himself in a puddle behind the house, five weeks previous Ricardo had punched two girls in the face and head butted another in a nightclub; the incidents were recorded on CCTV.

The judge claimed that Morrison was guilty, and the murderer bowed his head and sobbed.  His mother, Pc Melda Wilks let him wash his blood covered clothes; she was however not charged with assisting an offender. Wilks is facing an internal disciplinary and inquiry.

Karyn Killiner, Amy’s mother said after the court case, “Ricardo Morrison stole our daughter and destroyed our lives… Amy was a beautiful person inside and out she had her whole life ahead of her. She was trying to find a way to get away from Morrison when he killed her.”

Has anybody ever noticed the expression on the faces of models in adverts? – It appears to be that the current trend is to show no emotion and look slightly withdrawn from the whole situation.

Recently in the latest Yves Saint Laurent advert Kate Moss looks incredibly, unemotional. Agyness Deyn is often looking rather despondent in adverts; in a Burberry advert she looks incredibly frustrated and in the more recent Stella McCartney advert she looks severely angry. The industry can be rather difficult at the best of times, but it surely can’t be causing all this anger?

Gladly, breaking the sad and cheerless craze, Gucci’s current advert has the model actually cracking a smile! Wearing a glorious black dress, she is posing underneath a four-legged animal with her hand in a rather intimate place. Perhaps she was smiling at the sheer amusement that it looked like she was groping an animal!

A nose job and breast implants is how Holly Madison the ex playboy model, claims that she became successful.

 Dating Hugh Hefner for seven years couldn’t be easy, she was surrounded by other beautiful woman; all hopeful to impress the same man. Holly believes that living with Hugh brought her confidence down as she felt she had to look a particular way.

She says, “Plastic surgery made it easier for me to get things I wanted in my career.” With her 30th birthday dawning, the assumption that more plastic surgery would occur, however Madison is accordingly scared of botox and would only have more surgery her body wasn’t appealing after children.

Holly feels that without the surgery she wouldn’t be were she is today, but “Beauty is truly on the inside. Looks don’t define you. They’re just a tool to get what you want.”

It seems to me like the words fat and thin are being thrown around too much and in the completely wrong context; we have tiny women claiming that anything over a size four is fat and larger women saying anything under a size twelve is extremely thin.

As the years have gone by, we have watched the world criticise people for having no bum, big bums, no boobs, huge boobs, chunky legs, tiny legs; the list goes on. It’s as if people are not allowed to be small or large.

The fashion industry is forever changing, from petites too curvy women; but let us not forget there is a fine line between large women and fat, in the same way that there is a line between thin and anorexic.

There is too much pressure on women to look a certain way, one season it is fashionable to be small the next is to be large; but our bodies cannot keep up with all this change.

It is not wrong to be large or to be small; but it is now going to the extremes. Clearly people are forgetting that bodies come in all shapes and sizes, it is not about idolizing Kate Moss or Crystal Renn and attempting too look like them, you have a figure of your own and it is beautiful.

Regardless of fashion, it is not about being skinny or being fat; it is about being healthy. In our opinion beauty has almost been forgotten, people just love to criticise. You could be the tiniest person in the world and think you are fat or the biggest and think you are skinny and that is wrong.

Everybody in the world has a unique shape and size, these are real people. At the same time that size – zero models to plus – size models are slated for being the size that they are; they are still real people. The problem is some of these models are being forced to look that way.

Whether you’re a size 4 or a size 18, you’re a real and beautiful person and modelling is about being the best and being beautiful; despite size.

A seven year marriage ending with Sadie Frost left Jude Law having a string of relationships with different models and actresses, Sienna Miller being one of them. It was reported that Law had a brief fling with Model, Samantha Burke whilst he was filming Sherlock Holmes.

Reports had said that Jude asked for a DNA test to confirm that he was the child’s father; these were later said to be inaccurate.

A Lawyer on Miss Burkes half had said; “Ms Burke can confirm that she did in fact have a relationship with Mr Law and that she has informed Mr Law that she is expecting his child later this fall. “Since informing Mr Law of the pregnancy, he has been nothing but responsive and supportive of Ms Burke and the pregnancy.”

Sadie Frost and their three children have been informed of the situation; Law’s spokesperson had said that he proposes to be "a fully supportive part of the child's life".

It looks like the skinny trend will be coming to an end, with backing from the editor of UK Vogue, Alexandra Shulman has sent a scornful letter to international fashion designers, they are designing clothes so tiny that the models cannot fit in to them.

"Some of the international designers' samples look like dolls' clothes when they arrive. The models have to fit into them, and combined with the fact that the girls are tall, that's an extremely unrealistic body type." This was said by Kirstie Clements, an Australian affiliate of Alexandra’s.

Alexandra explained about having to Photoshop the images of models, making them appear bigger and healthier; this being disturbingly shocking as the models still seem to grossly tiny. She had to hire models  "with jutting bones and no breasts or hips" just so that they could fit into the clothes!

After deaths of Models on Runways, Shulman said enough sending a letter to the likes of designers at Versace, Yves Saint Laurent and Prada; she didn’t have the intent of it being publicised. However, more people have understood the pressure and the real story behind the Size Zero models.

Erin O’Conner, Supermodel had said “The fact that Alexandra Shulman with her enormous influence has opened this conversation means that it will have a huge impact, … It has... made it compulsorily relevant that we address this now.”

Lets hope Alexandra’s letter is just the beginning of change; with hope that designers will increase the size of their garments, we look forward to a bigger, healthier future.

A Book Fair opens for a week on the 22nd of July at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. 40,000 people are planning on protesting about the Models being there to help promote the books; they claim it will distract people from the reason that they are there.

“We are against the book fair turning into a junk event. Teenage models, please get out.” Said one protester on the Social Networking Site, Facebook.  Another campaigner, Po Cheung had commented “As many as 40,000 people have joined in. They simply want to send their message across, that is, those young models should not be in the book fair. What we are doing is for justice, please don't pass on any moral judgment.”

Models such as Angelababy, Rainbow,  Chrissie Chau, Kama and Lavina have been helping promotions of the books by their modeling photographs; Angelababy’s manager, Kim Chou has said that she is more worried about how the activist’s plan on protesting.

Kim Chou said, “We will be watching carefully when the book fair is launched. Of course, we will send more people down to the venue if we spot anything wrong,”
Franky Tam, another model manager also expressed his concerns for the models, “We believe Hong Kong is a very safe city. But we will watch the situation carefully. So far, we still plan to let our models show up at the book fair and we will closely monitor the situation.”

Isaac Cheung Chun-hoi a silent protester explains why he isn’t happy about the models appearance, "Personally, I am not against the teenage models," Isaac said. "However, their appearance will very likely attract their fans who are also likely to create chaos. Unless the organizer can have better management ... the book fair is going to be a mess and will disturb genuine booklovers at the event."

"We will make sure there is enough manpower to manage…” A spokesperson from the Trade Development Council; they manager the convention centre and are well aware of the threat from protesters.

For Muslims consumption of alcohol is a serious religious offence, Muslims in Malaysia can be imprisoned for 3 years, fined or caned.

 Kartika, a 32 year old  Muslim model was caught drinking a beer in a nightclub; she was sentenced to 6 lashes of the cane and a fine of USD 1,400; this was chosen by the Shariah High Court in Malaysia. “I will accept this earthly punishment, let Allah decide my punishment in the hereafter,”  said Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarno.

This was the second time that the court had chosen the cane for a women; the first was on a waitress that was caught with a man. Kartika’s husband supposedly supports her decision. “I want to advise youngsters to learn from my experience and not cause shame to themselves and their families,” she said.

yde felt the urgencies to take a little diet; she had fallen into the green grape diet which consisted of three for breakfast, two for snacks and six more was a binge. Inevitably she collapsed at Chelsea Hotel, New York and was carried to the nearest hospital.

But that was fifthteen years ago and now dieting has seen a new extreme; in August 22-year-old Uruguayan model Luisel Ramos died on a catwalk; her sister followed. The authorities in Spain set a minimum weight of 125 pounds for catwalk models of a 5’9 height (BMI of 18.5).

Later when a similar incident appeared in America; there was no major reaction. The likes of Nicole Richie and Kate Bodsworth fitting in to the new size of jean, 00; this clearly is not healthy.

“I'm pretty thin, but I didn't think I was eating-disorder thin,” a young actress had told the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa campaign. Cleo Glyde tells all…

“I signed up for modeling by accident, not design, when I was discovered at 17 in Paris on a study tour in the late '80s. Soon enough, I was in the hands of a team of bookers whose job it was to turn me into a robotic goddess onto which fashion fantasies could be projected. Of course, every new girl had to have a gimmick — mine was flaming red hair and goofy, coltish height.”

The model had waited at a casting call whilst the client read out the strict statements of how they needed there models, “‘Give me a storm-trooper blonde’; ‘Give me a jolie laide’; ‘Give me retro’; ‘Give me that slack-jawed junkie look.’”  Of course, one rule did not need to be read out; super tall and super skinny.

It appeared as though the designer and casting director did not care about the health and well being of the models; your body could be eating itself but it was the clothing that was important.

“Bottom line, if you couldn't achieve the look, you weren't in the game. So we played — smoking to kill our appetites and wringing ourselves out in steam rooms. Of course, plenty of models ate what they liked and simply threw it all up later.”

Glyde believes that it was the lure of being wanted that kept her dieting so long; she had lost her beautiful hips of the pear shape but nonetheless she was wanted by the client and that was more important.

“I couldn't resist. The lottery aspect of the castings stirs the "pick me, pick me" dynamic, so potent for young girls who are barely out of childhood and still inventing themselves. You become emotionally invested in the constant appraisal. As for the designers, they withdrew validation with one hand while offering temporary superpowers with the other.”

Cleo believed that the more she was rewarded in the fashion industry for being thin, the thinner she wanted to become. She claimed that the industry and attention was like a drug for her and she was ready for her next fix.

“The attention, the flattery, the heart-surgeon money, the city-hopping, the all-access social pass — the job is a hoot, and a parallel universe that constantly reaffirms the normalcy of weighing as little as possible. There were always more Marlboro reds and rancid champagne backstage than food, and we were all dieting together — food deprivation was a badge of honor.”

But after seeing the most beautiful curvy women, with the perfect figure 8 body turn to bones as misery seeped through her skin; Glyde had a change of heart and career.

“I ate for revenge, comfort, and company; the cheese platter was my idea of a stable relationship. After all those years of deprivation, my body threw its own Mardi Gras: Instead of being thinner than everybody else, I went bigger. Not that I enjoyed it — I just tossed it all down.”

Finally after years of battling with food, Glyde is a happy and healthy size 12. If you are dealt the tiny or large cards in life, accept it and be beautiful in your body. The importance is being healthy, not fitting into the size 00 mini dress.

Sean O’Pry a regular boy who was discovered through social networking site, Myspace. Lana Winters, owner of VNY model agency contacted Sean’s mother to get permission to fly him to the Big Apple. Amazing photos on a Myspace page lead this teenager to land a major campaign within three days of being with VNY models.

O’Pry has taken part in countless runway shows and appeared on numerous magazine covers; Sean has taken charge in a female dominated industry and certainly given them a run for their money.

Sean was GQ’s ‘Man of The Season’ in 2007 and has worn designers such as Armani and Calvin Klein. He is now Forbes’ most successful male model of the year.

“He came here with a little suitcase, not knowing what to expect and basically became a star overnight, … I've been in this business for a very, very long time and I've never seen anybody get such a response.” Lana Winters had said.

Cindi Leive, the editor of US Glamour magazine received a wide variety of comments regarding an image of a beautiful model with a small role of fat. The image was representing the story about body confidence and is now responsible for over seven hundred comments.

“It's a photo that measures all of three by three inches, … but the letters about it started to flood my inbox literally the day Glamour hit newsstands.” Cindi had posted on the magazine’s blog.

The Model stands at 5’11 and weighs 12.5 stone, Lizzie Miller is considered a ‘plus-size’ model. She is a US size 12 – 14, which is average or slightly under; however, she is still considered to large for Marina Rinaldi and Elena Miro. These two one apparently prefer 8 – 10s.

“In the industry anything over size six is considered a plus-size.” Miller had said, “ pretty much every picture in a magazine or ad is airbrushed . . . I don't think the public understands how much smoke and mirrors are involved in making women look like that.”

The amazing reaction would suggest that the tables are turning, but we are still yet to see a massive change. According to Leive, Glamour is celebrating all different types of women and there beauty.

It seems as though the latest modelling craze in china is infact internet modelling; Zheng Xiuming explains. “It is really challenging. Online shop owners will only hire models who can better display their products,” Zheng is a 20 year old year model, who isn’t tall enough to walk the runways.

"I am not dreaming of becoming a star model. But the business market for online fashion modeling is becoming larger as more shop owners with websites have found it easier to attract buyers through our display," she said.

Yin He, is a manager of Foshan-based modelling agency, he believes he has seen a improvement in revenues for businesses. “The robust development of online purchasing in the Pearl River Delta region, which has a large number of garment factories and traders, has laid a solid foundation for our business growth,” Yin said.

“Some clothes, when not worn by models, look no different from other clothes. But they may look very distinguishable and beautiful if they are put on models,” he commented.

“Under the current employment situation, the online fashion modeling industry has created a favourable position for university students,” 90% of Yin’s models are students that model part time for extra money. “They are not required to pay deposits when joining us. It helps partly explain why we have attracted so many part-time models”.

Yin believes that online modelling is much easier as the client only needs particular body parts; for advertising shoes only feet are needed. Perhaps this is why the Chinese models are breaking into online modelling.

"Models may not be classic all-over beauties. We only need those with professional skills as each item of online products needs different visual display," Yin said.

Model Natalie Suliman uses her modeling career and connections through up to improve the lives of local teenagers; Natalie has worked with the youth since she was 14 years old. Working for St Mary's Youth Club, she later progressed to working for the Islington Council as a youth worker.

The twenty four year old was spotted at Cally Pool on Caledonian Road, Islington; she was then made famous for being the bust of the ‘Sorry’ campaign for Marks and Spencers. The company were apologizing for charging more for larger sized bras.

Her exclusive modeling career has lead to connections with members of Destiny’s Child, Blue and Russell Simmons. She aims to take a group of young teenage girls from the St Mary's and White Lion youth clubs to meet Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child.

Recently, Natalie has allowed her youth group to meet Russell Simmons; “I met him two years ago through modelling. He pioneered hip-hop - and to the kids, hip-hop is their life and their culture. In the States, he is an activist when it comes to young people and so as soon as I explained what I wanted, he was up for it - although I still had to explain it to about 20 people who work for him.”

“I only found out the night before that he was coming. I rang up the White Lion Youth Centre and said, 'Can you get down as many young people as possible? … While the hip-hop thing is about bling, Russell Simons is into yoga - so he was a good example.”

Although the lifestyle of a model is seriously tempting; Natalie’s heart lays with the teenagers of Islington.

“To me, modelling feels empty. But when I use it to help my youth work, it feels worthwhile. It makes a real difference to the youths. The kids think that these are people on TV and yet they have taken the time to come to Islington.”

It seemed as the industry was finally realizing that idolizing skinny models wasn’t the best idea they used to represent themselves; but when issued with documentation from The National Society Against Eating Disorders and Self-Mutilation (LMS) they just started to spiral back in to old habits.

LMS conducted a study, they provided the evidence to The Danish Fashion Institute then the documentation was ignored. It seems as though the ‘skinny model’ trademark will continue.

‘We’ve been forced to acknowledge that the fashion industry hasn’t learned much in the past two years,’ said the LMS president Anne Minor Christensen. LMS had hoped that the industry would start listening;  helping to put an end to physical and psychological damage.

LMS proposed that all models have a yearly physical examination helping to combat the physical disorders caused from intense dieting for models. Furthermore, digitally adapted images should be declared; so that the public know and understand the truth behind the tiny size – zeros.

Anne believes that working with politicians,  editors, photographers and designers will help to change societies ideologies of ideal bodies and body mass. This is essential, as LMS has predicted that 75,000 people in Denmark alone suffer from eating disorders.

‘The fashion industry has always had the power to manipulate the masses and determine the ideal body, all the way back to the days of the crinoline,’ said designer Antonie Lauritzen; she believes that the industry is responsible for the appauling view of body image.
‘It’s the designers who decide how we dress and look, so we therefore have to make clothing that fits people the way the are and not ones where they have to live up to a standard.’

Taking up modelling nine years ago; Mel Patton 29 was studying Leisure and Tourism at Bolton University. Competing against twenty – two other models; Mel won with flying colours at the Kells Modelling Competition.

“They loved me and said that they had nobody like myself on their books because my hair is short and they said my face was really nice …I’m 29 – and it is a passion of mine to model. I have got the drive for it.” She said.

Mel travelled to London last month to participate in a trade show for brand, Forever Unique. She worked for twelve hours, supporting the company’s new lines. It is reported that if she has a good modelling career, Patton will leave her job at HM Revenue tax office.

Dawn Crabtree organiser of Kells Modelling Competition is certainly keen on Ms Patton; “Not only is Mel a stunning model but she is an amazing character and she has used winning this competition for exactly what it’s for – experience and a stepping stone on to bigger things… Mel is truly amazing and an inspiration to all Cumbrian women and aspiring young models. Starring in a campaign for designer Dennis Basso, Naomi Campbell models fur which can be sold for up to $200,000.

Once acknowledged for work with PETA – People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals; the 29 year old has clearly decided that working with fur is much warmer than charity.

“Yes, I am still wearing fur,” Naomi said, “but I've made up with that guy from PETA.” She is apparently happy with her choice to model for Basso, the campaign containing ads with her just wearing various animal skin coats.

Many have accused Campbell of being a hypocrite about her decision to model in fur, but Naomi must have a motive behind her actions.

Known for her role in film, "The Scent of Love" (2003) the story line couldn’t be more true as Jang Jin, Korean actress also had stomach cancer. Starting out as a model, Jang received extreme praise for all the work she had done, sadly Tuesday the 1st September 2009, she passed away. At 35 years old, she had been battling cancer for a year; her agency released details that it was just after 4pm at St Mary's Hospital at Catholic University of Korea.

After diagnosis, Jang stopped work to concentrate on her illness. It is a shame that we couldn’t have seen more from the Korean actress however, we will not forget her and how she bravely fought her illness.

Hundreds of businesses across the North Wales are jumping at the chance to take part of the amazing fundraising event for children’s hospice T Gobaith. This years ‘Corporate Challenge’ is to grow as much ‘seed – corn’ as possible in the next three months.

 All proceeds will be given to T Gobaith to help support children and their families; hopefully this year will be as successful as last year. ‘Corporate Challenge’ 2008 raised more than £80,000.

Anne – Marie Hindle has organized two major events this year, one a Catwalk and a Snowflake Ball.

“My business is five years old this year, and T Gobaith is also celebrating its fifth birthday, so taking part in the Corporate Challenge this year is appropriate,”

The Catwalk show will be held on October 4th, with celebrity and Models such as Jo-Emma Larvin, Sasha Parker and Korin Nolan walking the Runways; the show already has high expectations.

Posing for V magazine in summerset, Kate went wild with the gypsies. “She really enjoyed herself and it was clear she could more than hold her own.” Said a passer –by.  Moss takes a break from the city lights of London and travelled to the beach for this photo shoot.

As Moss perched against a caravan, pouting in a weightless dress; Kate looked like a picture perfect gypsy at a recent shoot. With a naked photo shoot perhaps local travellers got more than they originally thought when they heard about a model using the area for a campaign.

Refusing to stay in the hotel, Kate kicked it real with a group of gypsies, singing and dancing around a camp fire; clearly enjoying the traveller’s way of life in comparison to her own. I wonder if a gypsy fortune teller could tell us what is next on the cards for Kate…

The Face of Caribbean Fashion Competition took place in Grenada last month, with over a 100 models participating; all having to submit 6 photographs: 3 original and 3 editorial, the Caribbean was certainly looking forward to the parade of stunning models.

Charlene White, the director of the competition was however not impressed with the turn out, but she still contacted a variety of agencies and models leading to out male and female winner.

The models had to go through a rough grilling by the judges, they were checking for excellent poise, eye contact, comfort, fashion presence and personality; nothing less than perfection would strive to success.

  “We are a brand new modeling company with Caribbean oriented workers and with limited resources we decided to put on this competition just to get an insight as to what the Caribbean has to offer with regards to fashion and models”. White had said.

 “The response was overwhelming in some quotas, but as we develop our data base during the next few months for next year’s competition we expect more models to register”.

Traveling the Caribbean White was looking for potential  to enter the competition; “the region has a flair for fashion but what is lacking most is the opportunity for one to express themselves and what we would endeavour to do here at Imperial is to help break the ice”.

The winners of this competition; one male the other female has exclusive prizes jumping out at them; a modelling contract with Imperial Fashion Company, a trip to Jamaica and a large amount of cash.

Alongside these amazing prizes the female winner will receive one year supply of cosmetics compliments Revlon and the male will gain one month voucher for designer clothing and accessories from Dolce & Gabbana.

 Shereen Davis from Jamaica won the female side of the competition and Kishawn Thomas who is currently residing on the island of Nevis became the Man Face of Caribbean Fashion Competition.

 “Kishawn’s pictures were just great; he had the majority of what the judges we looking for in a model. He is a pure example of showing other male models that you don’t have to be muscular in order to win a competition; we see him doing well in the future and wish him all the best”, said Charlene White.

After being contacted through a social networking sight, a 30 year old aspired model had an opportunity of a lifetime as he had been offered a contract with an agency supposedly based in the UK.

The theoretical agency had begun sending him cheques, which he cashed for expensises and commission. However, after cashing a bundle of these cheques the police were called and it was discovered that they were fraudulent.

The man had no previous convictions and was completely innocent, this hoax agency had taken advantage of his hopes and scammed him. This is a reminder to all hopeful models to be wise about agencies, if it seems to good to be true, it probably is.

It seems as though Christian Dior has gone bare, dressing his models in corsets and garters, he sent out his models in 1950’s styled bras paired with New Look skirts. His haute couture collection for Winter 2010 looks to be extremely shocking.

The models walked through the labyrinthine showrooms at Dior's Paris flagship store, where the runway show was held; supporting puffy skirts with heavy beads and bras. The women wear also dressed in flesh – colored garters corresponding to wasp-waisted jackets with contemptibly puffed sleeves.

It seems as though winter 2010, is too wear undergarments as outer; this continued with shoes. Black stiletto heels fixed with bra and garter straps. Although, the models were in underwear; Galliano added the perfected finishing touches. Generous headpieces and veils perfect his stunning compilations.

"There is no time to finish dressing ... the show must start," said Galliano’s collection notes. The 1950’s appearance is certainly in fashion for Winter 2010.

With suspicion of intention of taking pornographic photographs of a young hopeful model, a man and women have been arrested however; they have been released on bail with further questions pending.

"If young people are approached to do any form of modelling work, they should make sure they know who they are dealing with and don't do anything without speaking to their parents about it, and report any concerns to us…Those looking for models are encouraged to take every reasonable step to ensure the person they are approaching is of the legal age to do so.” DS Ian Tyres says.

Kathleen ‘KC’ Neil was prevented for leaving the metropolitan museum of art and was forced to wait for the police. Neil was arrested and charged with public lewdness.

Photographer Zach Hyman, has created a portfolio of various models nude in public places, from the subway to church; men and women with out complaint. Clearly, at an art museum with many statues and paintings of naked people it was unacceptable.

“I want to show the human form in all its glory,” Zach says. “… Its Ridiculous, there are sculptures of nude men and women in there. There are paintings of nude men and women in there. They’re talking about children in there and seeing this happen and how awful it is. Then don’t bring your kids to the met.”

Jen Hunter competed in a reality TV series, ‘Make me a supermodel’ despite being told she was ‘too fat’ she still won.

'I was told I was never going to be a supermodel because of my weight,' she said. 'I thought, if the criticism was making me waver - even though I am strong-minded - what must be going on with the youth of today? I want to tell people it is okay to be the shape they are.'

The 25 year old is about to begin a tour around schools to talk to young people about there body image because being a size zero has suddenly become a new craze. Jen has received a variety of different contracts and has just finished a lingerie campaign; although she was told she had ‘stocky legs’ in the reality show.

“Ghanaians do not actually understand fashion,” Kofi Essel, an organizer of Ghana Fashion Weekend said. “They practice fashion, but the business aspect doesn't really matter to them … Entrepreneurs do not feel so encouraged to really invest money into it. They don't see it as a big deal.”

Despite the fashion industry not being ‘important’ over in Ghana, there are some superb designers out there just waiting to be found. Bayo Adegbe from Nigeria runs a clothing range, Modela Couture. The lines are enfused with rich colours and sequins, sadly as there are no factories in Nigeria he struggles to sell products to European Countries.

“Somebody asked me when I went to Europe, you make fantastic collections and all that, but what if I want 1,000 of this here dress, can I get it in a month? And that was a challenge and I told him, sorry, it's not possible,” he said. “And he was like, Ah, you guys are not ready to do business.”

Ghana Fashion Weekend was the first and largest show of its kind in Ghana so far, thirty designers from the USA and Africa brought along fantastic designs. Models had there faces painted and were clothed in a rainbow of colours with stunning traditional patterns.

“I love wearing the African wear on the runway because everyone is watching to see what new design, what are they going to do with this fabric, what's next,” said Sonia Ibrahim, a part time model. “Like yesterday I wore a costume that my whole face was covered. It's a traditional wear from the designer from Cote d'Ivoire. And most people don't understand, Why is her face covered? But it's a traditional wear. And that was fun.”

More established western designers also got on to the bandwagon, Louiss Vutton and Dior hit the trend with African designers. A Japanese designer also followed the trend of the famous. It’s a shame that in Ghana they don’t realize the effect they are having on the rest of the world.

Kwami Gyamfi, another young African designer is make an impact on his home town; “When you hear Kwami, you say, Oh yeah, that designer from Ghana,” said Gyamfi. “Like you can hear Calvin Klein, you know who Calvin Klein is. You hear Armani, you know who Armani is. We need a big fashion name from Africa, and surely, I'm going to be one of them.”

Kwami is determined to put his print on the country by raising employment; he has recently doubled his staff and he is ready to compete with the rest of the world.

Kirsty Grabham was out partying with friends; on the 28th March the 24 year old was reported missing; her body was founded in a wooded area off the M4 in early April this year.

Two men approached Kirsty in a nightclub the night before she allegedly died, the police are attempting to trace the men as they believe that they are witnesses to the models death; CCTV images have been released.

“We are very anxious to trace these men as they both at sometime had a conversation with Kirsty in the nightclub, and they may have information which could be relevant to the investigation…would urge them or anyone who can assist with their identity to contact the incident room.” Det Chief Insp Dorian Lloyd urges anyone with information to come forward.

The part – time models husband Paul, has been charged with her murder. It is believed the Katie was killed between the 27th March and 7th April at their home.

An actress on the stage and screen, Ruth Ford sadly passed away at 98 years old; she had Andy Warhol William Faulkner, Cecil Beaton and Truman Capote as friends, they watched as she stunned the world.

“My brother had all these strange, wonderful people around him,” After Dark magazine had been told in 1974. “And once I had seen them, once I had seen New York, well, what the hell was I going to do in Mississippi? Marry a shoe salesman?”

Born in Mississippi; Fords mother was a hostess and father owned hotels; she easily became popular on campus and took in to performing arts. Moving to New York delicate lady was under much criticism around her.

"In her 'heyday' she trampled less-fortunates as she climbed, even clawed her way to some imagined top – a top that wasn't there. She was always a loving heart, but self-aggrandisement – yes – ambition, almost assassinated that loving heart." Said, Leo Lerman, Conde Nast’s Feature Editor.

She later modelled for the likes a Man Ray and Cecil Beaton; moving to Paris to further her career. “I was beautiful, attractive, intelligent, amusing, good company. Of course he was in love with me, but I didn't want to marry him.” Tchelitchew who painted Ruth, reportedly was often proposing.

Ford had created her apartment and turned it into a salon, The home in Dakota was a place for writers, artists, photographers and instumentalists to gather; it was some what of fortress.

Ruth was constantly going between the stage and screen after she left the modelling industry; she was regarded as one of the most beautiful women in the world and was idolized by thousands.

Karin Gustafson, her lawyer confirmed her death and her age; Ms. Ford had long insisted she was four years younger.

16 year old Chelsea Smith, a teen model hung herself after the end of her relationship with 18 year old boyfriend, Ryan Lockett. It is reported the relationship had ended after rumours that Chelsea was seeing other men.

A webpage was set-up to pay tribute to young Chelsea, sadly it was seized by another site praising her death. Chelsea’s suicide was categorised under ‘death by rope’. Smith was found in her home hanging by next door neighbour.

Chelsea’s Mum, Trudi Young said to the inquest, “I had a call from Chelsea earlier that day saying she had walked out on her job and that she was going to find another one… I told her that as long as she looked for another one it was fine…We were going to post off job applications after I had finished work and then go shopping… She sounded fine to me. But when I pulled up outside the house and beeped my horn she didn't come down.”

“Instead Derek came running out and told me he had found Chelsea hanging upstairs. I ran straight into the house and asked him to get me some scissors…The music was blasting out from her room. It was Mariah Carey's "I can't live without you"…I tried to do CPR on her but nothing happened, by that time an ambulance had arrived.” Trudi continued.

According to ex-boyfriend Ryan, Chelsea had called him on the day of her suicide; “Chelsea had a lot of family problems and had fallen out with her nan, who kicked her out, before she moved in with me…She was always upset and I would find her crying. One time I came back and she was drowsy. She had taken some tablets. I told her to go to hospital but she refused…On the day of her death I had a call from Chelsea. All she said was I still love you before hanging up… couldn't call back because I had no credit on my mobile.”

Trudi was shocked by the death of her daughter, she thought that Chelsea was making a good recovery, “Chelsea had been living with Ryan only a month before she took her life, she took it hard being dumped by him but had started to turn that around and was going out more with her friends and having a laugh.”

The seventeen year old model was feared to be paralyzed, but soon after seeing her photos on the internet, she was offered a modelling contract with London’ s Base models. We wish the pin up the best of luck with her modelling career.

Since winning Estee Lauder Model Search 2008; Carishiela Kuijpers known as Cay has been busier than a bee after her success. Cay has strived to success after winning Estee Lauders Model Search and now she gives advice to other aspirers.

The modeling industry is hard to break into, Kuijpers gives the best advice for starting out, “Have faith in yourself because you are your own best friend. If you feel that you are the best and you work hard, it will show. People love to see that inner and outer glow. But you can also be your own enemy if you let insecurity take over. You will get nowhere if you lack self-confidence and selfesteem.”

“It takes guts to show everyone you have what it takes. It takes confidence to put yourself out there. It takes personality, too, for the clients to love you, and it takes passion for what you’re doing.” Carishiela continued.

After winning the competition, Cay has been jam packed with campaigns, from runways to luxurious photo shoots, she talks about her life change; “It has given me more exposure in terms of my modelling career, which helped open more doors for job opportunities. It has also boosted my confidence, which makes me fare better in everything I do.”

“Sometimes you have to deal with critics and you have to be able to take the criticism if you want to last in the industry. Sometimes you have to work with a crew that isn’t so friendly. They would look at you as if you didn’t deserve the job but you have to think that if you weren’t meant for the job, then you wouldn’t be chosen in the first place. You also have to work long hours but you get used to it.”

It seems as though the industry is not as daisy as she had originally hoped for; but Cay has made a lasting impression and will one day be an idolized Supermodel.

It is said that cocaine is the most common used drug amongst celebrities and those in the middle class; a vast selection of professionals have confessed to regular cocaine use. Thousands of pounds worth are being smuggled from South America to Europe on a daily basis.

Cocaine can be found in every town and village in the UK, the drug is being mixed with a varity of different substance such as crushed up ecstasy tablets, washing up powder and even rat poison. However, what is most worrying is that cocaine is cheaper than ever and can be purchased for as little as £29 per gram.

The fetish for cocaine has grown dramatically over the years and is expected to continue to rise, but what is most worrying is that icons such as Katy French a model have used cocaine despite knowing that they have young impressionable people watching.

Sadly, Katy French 24, fell into a coma at a friends house and died in hospital. Traces of cocaine were found in her bloodstream.

Cassi Van Den Dungen may be the one to win Australia’s Next Top Model despite previously being called a ‘foul-mouthed chain smoker’.

According to London’s Storm and Premier Modeling agencies, have been reportedly said that the seventeen year – old, high school drop out; is the next big thing as she has excellent potential. The trip to London should soon be aired on television.

Tahnee Atkinson, Adele Thiel and Clare Venema the other three catwalk models have not been remotely subtle about there opinion of Cassi, this years Australia’s Next Top Model is looking to be a good one.

Kendra Wilkinson is ready to marry Hank Baskett; her fiancé and father of unborn child later in June at the Playboy Mansion. The former playboy model has asked the prestigious Hugh Hefner to be godfather to her baby. Apparently, he was so happy and excited that he cried.

Lola Van Vorst, the 21 year old Austrailia’s Next Top Model contestant; is involved in a scandal as old photographs of her posing nude come to light.

"He asked if he could take some photos of me … I said yes, not even thinking they could possibly come back to haunt me one day," she said. "Although I'm not ashamed of the photos, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried about them potentially damaging my career." Vorst had explained.

Lola is one of the last six contestants in the show and is concerned that the images are going to affect the publics voting; Australia’s Next Top model is one of the most viewed shows by young teenager girls. These aspirers look up to the women on reality shows and as sad as it is to say, this will effect Lola’s chance significantly.

“There's another one of me against a wall which is a full-body shot," she said. "It's not nice to know there are people out there willing to cash in on my fame and trying to hurt me… What I have learnt is that there are a lot of creeps out there willing to take advantage of you when you least expect it.”

Although this may have a negative impact on the contest, it is also important that the young girls who watch the show use this and learn from it. This situation is fairly common and it is something that should be remembered. The Institute of Modeling deals with dozens of cases of young models having their private pictures posted across the internet and losing them work!

Born in Texas, the American Supermodel Jerry Hall gives her opinion. From grandchildren to dating younger men; the model with Cosmopolitan and Vogue under her belt spills all.

The Supermodel is most famously known aside from her astonishing prints; but her relationship with Mick Jagger; the pair met at a dinner party. Later resulting in four children, Hall left Bryan Ferry previous partner for him. “Mick and I just really liked each other a lot. We talked all night. We had the same views on nuclear disarmament.” Hall explained.

With Four children, a curious question was if she wanted grandchildren or not; “I have the pram waiting in the hall. I'm ready, but I'm not sure Lizzie is. I keep saying to her, ‘You have one and I'll keep it’”.

Mick Jagger as a prior partner and the craze of ‘Toyboy’s’ Jerry sure is one to not follow with the younger men trend, “I don't want to be ageist or anything, but I don't really like their tastes in music. It's like Coldplay ... it's like arrrgh.”

Another craze which has swept the nation is plastic surgeory, Jerry clearly doesn’t see the fascination with this either, “Some people take the fat from their bottom and they put it in their mouth. How disgusting is that?”

Kate Moss a 35 year old British model has earnt $1.2 Million more than the year previous; being a face of Rimmel and launching her own clothing line at Topshop has undoubtedly paid off. Moss received third on Forbes list of highest paid models.

Rolling in at second is German superstar, Heidi Klum. Appearing on hundreds of magazine covers throughout her career; Klum is a model for Victoria’s Secret and host to Germany’s Next Top Model and Project Runway. Earning a staggering $2.5 million more than last year.

Beautiful Brazil supermodel, Gisele Bundchen accumulated a whooping $31 Million and been in the number one spot for three years according to Forbes. Although the beauty has had a decrease of $12 Million over the prior year, she has still been a Queen in the modeling industry as she launched her own shoe line.

Beautiful young girl aspirers to be a model, standing at 5”5 she is still classed as petite. Charlotte Colthurst says, “They’ve got plus-sized models now but they haven’t really done anything about the height.” Having to be at least 5”8 to class as a catwalk model, Charlotte only just misses out.

Colthurst has been chosen to represent New Zealand in the World Championships of Performing arts; which is held in Los Angeles. 40 countries will be competing in the contest; Charlotte will participate in the Petite modeling section.

Although she only has a small height, Charlotte is certainly turning heads in New Zealand, winning Gold in the Aim to Fame 2009 qualifier. “I thought it was cool, I like experiencing new things,” she said, “You get to dress up and you feel nice.”

Enjoying many sports such as triathlon, duathlon, hockey and running; Charlotte is excited to take part in the world event, with 35 other New Zealand dancers, singers, models and musicians.

With the fair costing around $6500 for each contestant, Charlotte is hoping for sponsorship to attend the event. We wish her our very best luck in the competition!

An average weekend turned in to trauma for Daniella Lloyd a model and a past Big Brother Contestant. Daniella was at the London nightclub, Crystal with her friends and boyfriend; Jamie O’Hara.

Two women attacked her causing her to need an operation on her leg and 20 stitches for her back, after being thrown on to table covered with drinks. Two women have been arrested and questioned for suspicion of causing grievously body harm. A consultant believes that she is going to need severe physiotherapy.

With the success of Britain’s Next Top Model booming; contender Jade McSorley hit headlines as the battle with eating disorder: Anorexia was revealed. Eating disorders are commonly heard about in the modeling industry, in a way it comes with the territory. However, Jade believes that modeling is helping her situation; weighing in at just seven stone McSorley tells her story.

“The worst is behind me. I think with anybody who's suffered an eating disorder, I think they'll always say that it's something you have to live with forever. It's something that crops up and you've got to keep telling yourself to be healthy, you've got to keep going on. I think it's just like a scar. It never truly leaves you. As long as I'm happy and as long as I'm doing something that I love, it will never, ever affect me in that way it did before.”

Eating disorders and modeling is a pair that is well known together; many people believe that the eating disorder is result of pressure from designers and agents for the models to look a certain way. However, Jade believed that modeling has helped her overcome her problem; “It kind of kept reinforcing to me that I've got to get the weight on and I've got to get healthy and do the right thing. It was more positive in a way than negative and the industry isn't just forcing girls to be skinny because they're not. They're actually doing the opposite to me.”

“I hope, despite what's happened in the past, that if I've got potential and people think I've got potential, I hope that comes through anyway and they just forget about that. It is in the past, I am trying to build it up from that. I just want to leave that part alone now.”

“There is more to me than just what I suffered with. I hope that I can finally move away from it. I'll be honest about it if people ask me questions and that's all I can think I can be.” Jade spoke about her eating disorder, as the headlines go it is a common area that she finds herself being asked about; but clearly Jade wants people to move away from the subject.

Recent research conducted by the European Association for the Study of Obesity in Dijon in central France; has recently discovered that the secret to staying thin is a good night’s sleep.

 "After a bad night's sleep, people ate 550 calories (22 percent) more than normal," said European Centre of Taste Science. They found that generally people who have less sleep over night, have more feelings of hunger than those who have roughly eight hours sleep.

Another study produced by researchers at Netherlands' Maastricht University; discovered that children who had less sleep during puberty, gained more weight than those who had a regular sleeping pattern.

It looks like there is a brand new wave sweeping those who are in need of a little extra cash, with the New York Central Casting Office busier than an unemployment centre; it seems like being an extra or background model is the latest craze for making money.

"There's definitely been a spike in registration," said Todd Feldman, the casting director at Central Casting, “You see more guys in suits, maybe Wall Street guys that are out of work at the moment."

Extras can earn up to £100 a day, with no acting experience needed and there is no preference to age or gender literally anybody could be brushing shoulders with the likes of Orlando Bloom!

The return of Britain’s Next Top Model appears this month on Living, this is going to be one of the biggest series yet as the popular reality show returns for the fifth time. With Lisa Snowdon back and fresh from Strictly Come Dancing; the twenty hopefuls have a fantastic mentor throughout the television show.

With the contestants crammed in to a luxury house which only houses 13 of the aspirers; the ladies will be enrolling on a boot camp for the first time ever in the history of Britain’s Top Model. This year’s competition will be hotting up as the models fight for a contract with agency Models 1 and a cover on Company magazine.

On the return of series five, Lisa Snowdon stated, “Each year it seems that the competition gets tougher, for the first time ever on the show, twenty girls will be fighting it out to become top model. All of them will need to make sure that positive first impressions are made so that they don’t get lost in the crowd!”

Along the twenty contestants will be Chloe Cummings, cousin of Abbey Clancy who succeeded to second place in 2006; hopefully Chloe will receive as much or more success as her cousin did a few years earlier.

Huggy Ragnarsson also commented on series five, “It is fantastic to be a part of the show once more. Last year was definitely an experience and I am confident that we can again find Britain's Next Top Model amongst the high standard of girls this season. Using my experience as a judge, photographer & ex-model I hope to strengthen the girls into becoming up there with the very best”.

Another new trick to this seasons show, viewers were able to participate in an online vote to place a contestant into the show. Hayley Buchanan from Scotland has been put amongst other stunning hopeful models.

“I’m excited to be a part of the phenomenon that is Britain’s Next Top Model. I have worked with some excellent photographers and stunning models and know how magnificent the models can look if they put their mind to it, I hope to show the girls the way to achieve this.” Louis Mariette the new judge had spoken.

The feisty females will meet designers, world famous photographers and Catwalk experts; the casting an infamous photo shoots will be in exquisite locations. This year is stirring up to be quite the show.

Britain’s Next Top Model will run its usual course of twelve weeks, with elimination each week. May the battle commence…

A new reality show hosted by the notorious scout, Fiona Ellis was launched first last September. The Model Agent will consist of 12 stunning Irish girls battling it out, attempting to impress Ellis who founded Erin O’Connor.

Claiming she knows instantaneously whether a hopeful has the potential to be a supermodel or not; Fiona is looking a lot more than the typical leggy, blonde hair and fake tanned girls.

"She has got an unbelievable amount of experience that she's going to bring to Ireland," said a spokesperson from RTE, the production company."…Let's face it -- Ireland has never really produced a supermodel, a big name that's known internationally, so this is the perfect chance for an unknown talent.”
 
Luckily, the advertising photograph of the girls doesn’t contain overly fake tanned girls and only one of which is blonde. All ticking the beauty box.  The lucky finalist will fly over to New York, one of which will luckily succeed a contract with an agency that supported the likes of Liz Hurley and Helena Christensen; The Independent.

"Independent agency have found the next face of Gucci, Burberry, Prada and Versace, have provided models for the covers of Vogue and HQ and they do all the international runway shows, so the sky's the limit," continued the spokesperson.

The producers of the programme keenly feel that the show will be a big hit for RTE, the series will air on the 20th April 2009 at 10.25pm on RTE two.

The modeling industry is a hard enough industry to work in, this doesn’t get easier when you are doing it to support yourself or a family and the company is not paying you. 100s of Models have lost out on money that they are owed, totalling over a hundred thousand dollars.

"I kind of equated him to the Bernie Madoff of the acting and modeling world," said Hai Ninh in an interview with News 4 New York. Yue Xu, another modelled continued, “There's about 120 of us who are owed money, with an average of $3,000 per person.”  Other models believe that they will not see a penny, hoping that the man will burn. More have David Roos of being a crook.

Andrea Bordeaux who also has strong opinions on the matter, "It was a hair job, I sat in a chair for nine hours getting my hair braided, and then the next day I had a seven-hour photo shoot with my hair being pulled and twisted. I lost a lot of hair doing this job. I want my money."

Bordeaux who believes it was the worst two days of her life; when she found out the agency was closing down, she persisted "We wait tables to get by, and we borrow money from our parents…There have been times when I've had to take different credit cards to get new head shots because I couldn't afford to pay for them on your own.  I'm getting emotional -- $4,000, $2,000, $500 -- that's a lot of money."

David Roos the owner of Gilla Roos agency has been unsuccessful in paying models thousands of pounds each, after jobs that they had already completed.  Roo’s sent an email to one of the model’s which goes on as follows: “I have nothing ... I have lost everything. Everything I had was in Gilla Roos and that is broken ... I feel terrible about not paying your daughter and all the other models.”

It has been reported that David attempted a loan to restart the business, yet this remains unsuccessful; sadly the model also remain unpaid and angry at the whole situation. Hopefully the issue will soon be resolved and the models brought some justice.

Sarah Murdoch the wife of media legend Rupert Murdoch, is set to be taking over Australia’s Next Top Model. Sarah will guide the thirteen girls to potential models.

The fifth season is to be full of tears and laughter as we watch the girls until there is only one, Australia’s Next Top Model.

Lara Stone, the new face of Jaeger; a stunning pout and lavish figure she set aside from the trends of boyishly tiny figures and brought the word curve back on to our tongues.

Skinnies have stalked the catwalks for years and according to photographer Bruce Weber the “…big, bad and beautiful” Stone made a change as she closed for Chanel and opened for  Jean Paul Gaultier; at the July’s Couture Fashion Week in Paris.

The 5”10 model stuns designers and photographers with her US 4 ( UK size 8) figure; appearing nude in magazines almost as often as clothed. She was not the first of the curvy models such as Gisele, but certainly makes a good change to the skinny trend with her luxurious hips.

Signed to Elite at the age of 15; now 25 Lara fears that she is getting to old for the industry compared to the likes of Twiggy, she certainly still has a while to go. Once not offered the catwalk, Stone had signed with IMG sending out a new message.

With Riccardo Tisci, director of Givenchy falling in love with her as a model; Lara was soon a ‘overnight’ success as she was featured in Vogue, she has now campaigned for Chanel and Stella McCartney.

Lara revealed that when standing next to size 0 competitive models, it did start to make her feel fat; she was not pressured in to dieting. In fact it is shown in a recent survey that many women and men prefer her figure in comparison to a waify size zero.

“A lot of people say it’s nice to see someone who won’t break in half when you touch them. But I am still a woman and a person, and if you’re compared and confronted with your colleagues, and they’re all half your size, you think, ‘F***, I’m really fat!’” said Lara Stone.

And now, it seems as though aside from the industry but society in general, is calling out for healthy models with realistic weights and sizes to represent the women of the world. It seems as though we are finally getting past the fat and skinny barrier and moving on to the issue of health; with Lara Stone as a good role model.

Eleni Renton, of Leni’s Model Management believes that Stone is, ‘the dawn of a new wave of models who convey a healthier, sexy body image. I think it is great that marketing departments of main fashion brands are recognising the desires of their customers. A recent survey showed that most women desire a body like Lara’s, with a waist and bust.’

“We wanted the images for our autumn collection to be reminiscent of 1960s film stills. Lara is a strong, sexy woman. She exudes personality – she is a real woman with curves, and proud of it. She looks fabulous in our collections…” Belinda Earl, Jaeger’s group chief executive observed.

It seems as though the influence of Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford has not gone unnoticed among today’s society, yet took a brief break. Curves are clearly fighting back against the waify era.

No longer will models have to be photoshoped to make them appear skinner, but there beautiful and voluptuous figures devoured for their beauty. I hope to see the rise of more models with curvier figures and a difference within the industry.

Letitia Morgan, a 19 year old bar maid is hopeful to win in the Miss Earth UK competition, the ceremony will be held on 30th August 2008 at the Royal Spa Centre, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.

“There should be bins available to everyone for different waste like glass and cardboard …I’m always telling my friends and family to switch off lights and stop wasting electricity …If I win I want to talk to councillors and see what difference I can make to change the way we live.” Says Morgan, eager to be crowned Miss Earth.

The theme behind the contest is about saving the environment; the winner will be crowned Miss Earth and three runners up will follow as, Miss Fire, Miss Air and Miss Water.

Morgan continues, “… The judges want to see someone with confidence to spread the word on ways we can change the environment and the pageant stresses the importance of educating people on the three Rs, reduce, reuse and recycle - that’s what I want to come across on the night.”

We would like to wish all the hopefuls entering this competition good luck, as it is nice to see models wanting to make a change in the environment.

Staying in Montevideo, the Uruguayan capital; the 18 year old, Eliana Ramos was found dead by her grandmother in her bedroom. A full post-mortem suggested that she had experienced an alimentary deficiency causing her to have a heart attack.

Just a year previous, her sister Luisel Ramos collapsed on a runway in the middle of a fashion show, it was reported that she was on a diet of cola and lettuce in an attempt to lose weight. It was discovered that her BMI (Body Mass Index) was at a level of starvation according to the World Health Organisation.

The tragedy of Luisel and several others encouraged a much needed debate about the need of size zero odels within the fashion industry. However, regardless of  the death of her sister, Eliana continued ith her modelling career and signed up with Dotto Models based in Buenos Aires; Argentina also representing Luisel.

The executive holder of Dotto Models, Pancho Dotto refused the idea that Eliana and her sister had suffered from an eating disorder and believed it was a genetic problem. Pancho claimed that Eliana was never extremely thin and seemed to be very healthy.

Now organizers of Fashion Week Sao Paulo now demand a health certificate from all models taking part in catwalk shows, and also refuse models under the age of sixteen.
However in London there is still a rejection of the size – zero ban, and the question remains if the industry is trying to protect models from the dangers of dieting.
