McQueen a British Fashion designer; the likes of Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Bjork were fascinated with his garments and were often seen in his latest range. Alexander received British Designer of the Year Award four times. He worked as head designer at Givenchy for five years before founding his own brand, Alexander McQueen and McQ.

Sadly the industry lost one of its brightest stars 11 February 2010, when McQueen hung himself following the shattering news of his mothers death just days before.

The German fashion designer has worked most famously for Chanel as head designer; he has also worked with the Italian Fendi aside from his own label. With his labels hanging of Madonna and Mariah Carey, Lagerfeld quickly became a top designer.

He studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology and was soon to launch his own label that was rapidly sold at many department stores. The collection of lines were promptly worn on celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez and Heidi Klum.

One of the only japenese women to present her designs in the likes of Paris and New York, she is an extremely honoured designer in Japan whose creations have made it across the globe to be sold in Bloomingdales and Macys.

The Italian fashion stylist and producer had been the chief designer at Giorgio Armani, Nino produced some of the most beautiful creations to this day and his label is internationally known. Cerruti will be remember for the classic wool suits.

He trained under Ronaldus Shamask and Mary Jane Marcasiano. Having created a few lines, Zang Toi and the House of Toi, the young Malaysian designer brought an explosion of colour onto the runway and impressed the likes of Fergie, Meg Ryan and Sharon Stone all now personally styled by him.

The self-named brand was founded by Manolo Blahnik; the label specializes in gorgeous footwear. The Spanish designer worked for fashion boutique ‘Zapata’, he later bought it and opened his own boutique. Manolo’s creations are now sold globally and are worn by celebrities all over the world.

The New Delhi fashion designer combines tradition with the modern expectations of fashion. Originally designing just for men, Rohit later designer for women; branching out to do wedding gowns, evening collection as wells as day wear and ready to wear collections. His creations are sponsored by The Swatch Group.

During his second year at college, Arkadius was introduced to Alexander McQueen who offered him a work placement. With support from such a prestigious designer he certainly became successful, later launching his own label; with loyal clients such as Ashanti, Bjork and  Janet Jackson shopping from him.

Directed by Andy Salzer, Yoko Devereaux founded in 2000 is an urban casual menswear label. It started as a way to communicate art and music in the world of fashion through T-shirts; the international label is favourites of Pharell Williams, Josh Harnett and The Rapture.

The Italian Fashion label was founded by, Gianni Versace in 1978. The boutique was first opened in 1978; Milan, Via della Spiga and of course was immediately popular. The label is now renowned for beautiful cuts and luxurious materials.

The New Delhi based fashion designer became the only Indian designer to appear in Acustyl magazine; with such success for her designers Ritu wrote the book, ‘101 ways to look good’. The likes of Bill Clinton and Prince Charles are reported to wear her designs.

Angy is an wacky avant-garde fashion designer who doesn’t follow convention or trends. Working on her label she provides an exclusive, bespoke fashion service for individuals and boutiques. Her best known haute couture collection, Stolen Dreams a fusion of Football and Fashion was created from replica strips. She is currently working on a commercial line 'Pyromania'.

The Canadian fashion designer presented his first collection in 1994, he went on to open his house of couture which lead him to shows worldwide. His garments have been described as, “clean minimalist chic.”  His collections have been worn by Paris Hilton, Pink and Dita Von Teese.

Missoni founded by Ottavio and Rosita Missoni is famous for its knitwear in beauty fabrics and colours. The Italian fashion house was set up in 1953 and there collections were first presented before Milan in 1958. The label has gone on to produce a variety of lines and hotels.

The English designer created Lady Sarah Chatto's, Jasmine Guinness and Paula Yates wedding dresses and ready to wear designs being sold in the likes of Debenhams department stores. Jasper has received Designer of the Year in 1986 and helped create costumes for the famous, Swan Lake, My Fair Lady and The Nutcracker Sweeties.

The most influential designer of the 1940s and 1950s, Christian Dior dominated fashionworld with the hourglass silhouette of his voluptuous styles. He also created Dior as a global brand, which still lives on some 50 years after his death across a wide range of products (from fashion items to makeup).

Dior is still one of the most exciting brands to work with and wear, with a exceptional range of designers and marketing this brand will be at the front of fashion for a long time to come.

The Indian fashion designer has wowed the audience’s of London and Paris’s fashion week; with beautiful vivid colours and attention to detail. Beginning his label 1997, Manish combines the Indian embroidery with the Western Silhouette.

The American designer presented his first collection in 1987, immediately receiving praise from all in the fashion world. However he has what can only be described as his, “good years and bad years” as Kal Ruttenstein, executive of Bloomingdale’s had said. However he continued with success as a creative designer for Liz Claiborne.

The British designer responsible for creating the ‘mini skirt’ and ‘hot pants’. Mary began as she was not pleased with clothing currently available to her, making her range she was quickly working with over eighteen manufacturers. It is reported she named the infamous ‘Mini Skirt’ after her preferred car, the Mini.

Thakoon Panichgul born in Thailand is an American fashion designer, he combines feminity into a more youthful line; becoming favourites of Michelle Obama. His ready to wear collection was so successful that he began designing for GAP.

Collette Dinnigan the Australian fashion designer opened her first boutique in 1992; her design were so popular that they were quickly exported all around the globe. With ready to wear ranges barely seeing the shelves, Collette went on to produce a lingerie line which also proved successful.

The American designer, president of L- 7Designs Inc won the hearts of many; with his lighthearted and fun collections. Winning the CFDA award for New Fashion Talent in 1991. He also produced a wardrobe collection associated with the Warner Brothers film, Batman Forever.

Despite going against his parents’ wishes Narciso Rodriguez continued his attempt into the world of fashion, he hit luck and worked under labels such as Donna Karen and Calvin Klein. Later opening his own label, designing the wedding dress for Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and her wedding to John F. Kennedy, Jr. Later winning, the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year Award two years in a row.

The fashion designer of New York and Paris, never fails to stun with her combination of energy from Manhattan and romance and elegance from France. Catherine strives to achieve beauty femininity and the ultra chic which always shows through in her designs. Her graceful designs allowed her to expand, now creating jewellery, shoes and accessories.

An Irish hat designer, Philip Treacy rose to success and designer hats for Alexander McQueen’s white Haute Couture collection at Givenchy and Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel. His best success was the hat for the Duchess of Cornwall and her wedding to the Prince of Wales.

The New Zealand designer was quick to success opening two boutiques within less than ten years of starting in to the fashion industry; soon after she was selling to Barneys New York. She is credited as one of New Zealand’s best international fashion designer and her creations are favourites of Kate Winslet and Tyra Banks.

The American designer and label, Eileen Fisher is prominent for her simplicity within style. Fisher began her company with just $350, but was quickly earning thousands; now she is a leading women’s retailer.

Nanette Lepore the New York based designer; she attended Fashion Institute of Technology and left with a degree in design. Soon she opened a boutique and was quickly selling in Europe and Asia; with Eva Longoria and America Ferrara wearing her designs.

The American fashion designer and her designers have been described as, “a whiff of the carefree, simple spirit”. The Cynthia Rowley boutiques are now international; which has branched out to sell shoes, belts, fragrances alongside more.

The entrepreneur and Italian fashion designer began his career by taking over his father’s glove making company; Trussardi quickly expanded by making luxury accessories. His greyhound logo was soon created and a ready to wear line was designed. Nicola went on to design interiors for Alitalia and outfits for those competing in the Olympic Games.

Founder and owner of Jessica McClintock Inc; the American designer specializes in ready to wear. She later went on to create stunning accessories, glasses homewear and bridal gowns.

The Italian born French designer first introduced the dazzling bubble – dress; Pierre Cardin had an experimental style playing with geometric shapes and although his creations would always have the wow – factor, they were often not practical. Before opening his own fashion house, Cardin worked for Christian Dior.

Posen launched his label at 21 years old, with a vast difference in opinion about his collection; he instantaneously gained recognition. His work was admired by younger socialites; the forties style tailoring certainly appeared to be a hit. With Mermaid themed gowns and short cocktail frocks; Zac gained Swarovski’s Perry Ellis Award for Womenswear.

Cavalli roared to success when youthful Brigitte Bardot wore one of his designs in Saint Tropez; his exclusive style became essentials for the likes of Victoria Beckham and Alicia Keys. He has also branched out now designing; shoes, home wear, accessories and fragrances.

The American contemporary fashion designer first started working for Polo Ralph Lauren and then moved to Calvin Klein. In 2000 he began creating Converse All-Star shoes, which became extremely popular and branched out more creating Jack Purcell and One Star.

The Amsterdam based fashion house, founded by Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren; trying there luck at haute couture they quickly began ready to wear ranges. With over forty different collections Viktor & Rolf have expanded and collaborated with a variety of other companies including H&M and Swarovski.

Dean and Dan Caten are identical twin brothers and founded Dsquared2, a high-class fashion label. They launched there first women’s collection in 1986 DEanDAN; they went on to work as designers for Gianni Versace and urban brand, diesel. With explosive runway shows, the label is a favourite of Rihanna and Christina Aguilera.

Saab launched his fashion label at eighteen years old, he become the first non- Italian designer to become a member of ‘Camera Nazionale della Moda’. He specialized in haute couture, but later went on to ready to wear collections; the Lebanese designer held his first show in Monaco.

Emilio Pucci and his label are known for their array of colour’s and statistical prints. Pucci’s career to a boost when a female friend was pictured by a Harper’s Bazaar photographer; she was wearing a Emilio Pucci designed ski wear. He went on to open a haute couture house; his designs became so successful that Marilyn Monroe was buried in one of his dresses.

Tom Ford an American Fashion designer also film director gained an international reputation; after the turnaround of Gucci and the later release of Tom Ford label. Tom became creative director of Gucci and when Gucci acquired Yves Saint Laurent; he became creative director of that label too. Ford has achieved many awards including: 2009: Honored as one of GQ USA's Men of the Year and 2009: Venice Film Festival - Queer Lion for “A Single Man”.

The brand Helmut Lang was founded by Helmut Lang; he was known for his beautiful minimalist yet severe creations. The label traveled around the world and later became part of the Prada group and continues today, despite Helmut Lang no longer being involved.

Agnes b is well known for her self-named label; she founded Comptoir Mondial de Creation the parent company of Agnes B. Her first boutique was opened in 1975, soon after she launched a skincare and cosmetics line. Her stores are now international and can be found in London, Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong and Amsterdam.

Oscar de la Renta is  a leading fashion designer; Oscar worked with Christian Dior, Elizabeth Arden and later took over Jane Derby when she past away. He became a favourite of Baron de Gunzburg a fashion editor of Vogue; alongside Bill Blass and Calvin Klein.

Miller’s first runway show was held in October 1990; the business rapidly expanded and now aside from designer garments; Nicole designs jewellery, accessories, coats and swimwear. Nicole’s clothes have appeared on the cover of Vogue, Cosmopolitan and Glamour.

Thierry Mugler is a fashion designer and photographer; his designs has used PVC and robot themed; although his fashion house didn’t continue through the 90’s; Mugler went on to produce gorgeous fragrances’; Angel outsold Chanel, No.5.

Guess? The brand was founded by the four Marciano brothers; with many attempts at getting retailers to stock their jeans; ‘Bloomingdale’s’ finally agreed to stock of their jeans which quickly sold out. There advertising campaigns won awards and jeans were the most sought designer jeans. Guess? went on to produce watches, baby clothes and home wear. The brothers later went on to produce another label, Marciano.

Valentino an Italian fashion designer is founder of the label, Valentino. Garavani was quickly established for his red dresses, later known as ‘Valention Red’. When Valentino traveled to Florence, he began dressing many socialites; two years later the all white collection appeared as did the ‘V’ insignia.

Calvin Klein, the American fashion designer is one of two fashion houses to be in the Internet Hall of Fame for having a two letter domain; he has been described as ‘the master of minimalism’. Klein has achieved boutique’s all over the world and has released over ten different ranges, with stunning scents.

The LV emblem is one of the most know labels in the fashion industry; the luxury fashion house demands some of the highest prices within the market. Vuitton specializes in handbags, jewellery and sunglasses. The icon has come to signify wealth and kudos.

Coco became a significant figure in 20th century fashion; the founder of Chanel pushed for menswear inspired fashion and simplicity. Infact, her impact on the industry was so imperative that she was the only person from the area to be put in Time 100: The Most Important People of the Century.

Notorious for her prestigious collections of wedding gowns; Wang has achieved Council of Fashion Designers of America Womenswear Designer of the Year 2006. Her dresses have been worn by Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Kate Hudson and Victoria Beckham.Vera has since released eyewear products, perfume, jewellery and a book, ‘Vera Wang on Weddings’.

The French Haute Couture Designer gained his reputation from being extremely playful with his designs; his models were unconventional with older men fuller-figured women and heavily tattooed and pierced models. Aside from many of his clothing lines; Gaultier’s fragrances also gained him a vast amount of recognition.

Namesake of Kate Spade New York; Kate began her career after realizing there wasn’t any stylish and sensible handbags on the market. Nevertheless she created her own collection, she went on to design everything from stationery and personal organizers to shoes, raincoats, and home wear.

Wolfgang Joop, the German fashion designer was the founder of Joop! Which was created in 1981; the brand was quickly established for stimulating ranges and internationally award winning fragrances.

Baby Phat is an urban fashion range aimed at women and girls; its accessories, jewellery and garments all have the sleek cat emblem on them and were designed by Kimora Lee Simmons. Simmons has drove the brand into millions and appeared as a judge on the first season of America’s Next Top Model.

Born in Gibraltar, John Galliano graduated from Central St Martin’s School of Art with fashion design; his first collection was inspired by French Revolution. Galliano has worked alongside Givenchy, and Christian Dior.

Vivienne Westwood is a British fashion designer whom brought ‘Punk’ and ‘New Wave’ fashions into mainstream and high fashion. Her business had it’s first Boom when the ‘Sex Pistols’ wore clothes from her label. Westwood took the traditional Scottish Tartan and added her own edgier look.

Japanese fashion designer, Issey Miyake is prominent for his vivid and technical designs. He studied graphic design in Tama Art University in Tokyo; he experimented with flexibility of material and  protection, which eventually resulted in a new technique of pleating. Miyake has had over ten lines and is certainly an admired  designer in Tokyo’s world of fashion.

Johnson is best known for her supremely feminine and incredibly embellished designs; Betsey was involved in many dance classes when she was younger stimulating her love for costume. Johnson has cartwheeled down the runways of her shows and opened a boutique under the name of Betsey Bunki Nini.

Opening his first couture house in 1987, Christian Lacroix the French designer has launched jewellery, shoes, scarves and ties. He soon opened boutiques in Paris, London and Japan.  Christian was popular for his creative designs; rose prints, low necklines and the famous puff skirt known as ‘Le Pouf’.

Known as “the architect of fashion” Gianfranco Ferre launched his first signature collection for women in 1978, the men’s appeared in 1978; later followed by his couture collection in 1986. With white shirts becoming a signature trend;  Gianfranco has been known be extremely critical of gimmicks.

Jacobs the American Fashion Designer houses three major lines: Marc Jacobs, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Little Marc. His Choice of models for his campaigns has brought him a lot of publicity; with Dakota Fanning sporting the clothes in smaller sizes and child sizes of shoes. Jacobs is also creative designer for Louis Vutton.

The American fashion designer is renowned for her prestigious designs and vivid colours; Sui’s first runway show was launched in 1991. Anna won the Council of Fashion Designers of America Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award; amongst Ralph Lauren, Yves Saint Laurent and Giorgio Armani. The dolly head mannequins have become a global icon of Sui’s success.

McCartney an English fashion designer took her first steps into the world of fashion at the age of thirteen; as she made her first Jacket. The daughter of Beatles member; Paul McCartney had her first show in 1995; with supermodels such as Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell walking to “Stella May Day”.

Hilfiger an American fashion designer founded the brand Tommy Hilfiger. The brand now has over ten different ranges and is extremely popular with the younger generation; as it has an urban style. Tommy was named Menswear Designer of the Year by the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 1997.

The American fashion designer founded the label which went on to design the famous Polo Ralph Lauren; which has swooped millions as the label has travelled internationally.
The first prestigious emblem was seen on the cuff of classy women’s suit; later the symbol was on the polo shirt, which are clearly now a classic.

Smith the English designer is a well recognised supplier of quality for men, the icon for menswear was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000. Currently, there are over twelve different collections all with mainly Italian, French and British origin.

Donna Karan New York (DKNY), the label of fashion designer Donna Karan was inspired by her daughter as she combined luxury with comfort. DKNY is now a favourite among younger people and has gone on to produce accessories and perfumes.

The house of Givenchy was founded by Hubert de Givenchy in 1952; the French brand has clothed many of the rich and famous, including the beautiful Audrey Hepburn. The brand has gone on to produce some of the most stunning garments, accessories and perfumes.

Giorgio Armani founded Armani in 1975; the international fashion house began in Italy and is now believed to be the most prominent label in the industry. The label has many different lines and has reported to be opening a hotel, The Armani Hotel in Burj Khalifa in Apri 2010.

An Italian luxurious fashion house, founded by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana; the first boutique was in Milan, Italy. The brand has travelled globally with two major lines; Dolce&Gabbana and D&G, a much more urban range.

Yves Saint Laurent a French fashion designer, whom has been thought of as one of the greatest figure in fashion history. The brand is responsible for the female classic tuxedo suit and thigh high boots.
